Civilization 6 (Switch) Beginners Guide 13 New Frontiers Pass Leaders

With the release of the New Frontier pass for Civilization 6 it’s time to update our leaders guides with the additional leaders that have been released so far. A further six new leaders will be introduced to the game with the upcoming contents throughout this year and next. This guide will be unpdated again when the other leaders are released.

Lady Six Sky

Lady Six Sky is the leader of the Maya Civilization.

Leader Unique Ability: Ix Mutal Ajaw

Within 6 tiles of Lady Six Sky’s capital all her units receive +5 combat strength. All    cities receive a 10% yield bonus. All her cities that are more than six tiles away from the capital city relieve 15% yield penalty.

Leader Agenda: Solitary

Lady Six Sky likes to keep her cities clustered together and likes civilization’s who settle far away from her cities borders. She dislikes those who intrude on her border with troops and cities.

Unique Unit: Hul’che Ranged unit.

Replaces the archer unit, higher ranged strength 28 versus 25. 
+5 Ranged strength against wounded  units.
Upgrades to Crossbow man.

Unique Ability: Mayab

Lady Six Sky’s cities receives no additional housing from being adjacent to fresh water or coasts. Cities gain +1 Amenity for each Luxury Resource adjacent to the city centre. +1 housing and +1 gold from Farms

Unique Building:  Observatory ( replaces the Campus district) 

Major bonus of +3 Science for every adjacent Plantation. Minor bonus of +0.5 Science for every adjacent Farm or District. Lower production cost to build. 27 verses 54 production. +1 Great Scientist point per turn. +2 Science for Specialists each turn.

Tips for Gameplay

When playing as Lady Six Sky it’s best to build her cities close to the capital , around 6 tiles or so apart and settling  adjacent to luxuries provides the Maya with additional amenities. Placing your Observatory near to farms and plantations to receive extra science bonus and get a head start on your race to a science victory.

Leader Unique Ability: Campaña Admirable

Entering a new era will grant a Commandant General which is a unique type of Great Person. They can not directly engage with enemy units instead they provide +5 combat strength and +1 movement to owned land units within 2 tiles and they affect land units no matter what era the unit is from. The bonus  supplied by the Campana Admirable can stack with those of a Great Person.

In all there are 10 Campana Admirable’s with their own bonus abilities.

Jose Antonio Paez: Grants +4 combat strength to Cavalry units within 2 tiles.

Gregor MacGregor: Grants 1 promotion level to a military unit and gold equal to fifty percent of the purchase cost of the unit.

Antonio Narino: Increased trade routes capacity by 1 and grants a Trader unit in the nearest city.

Mariano Montilla: units within 2 tiles gain +4 combat strength versus district defence.

Francisco de Paula Santander: Earn a random civic and with the Rise and fall and gathering storm you earn a Governor title.

Antonio Jose de Sucre: Instantly creates the strongest unit your civilization can build and relieves a free promotion.

Jose Felix Rivas: All Enemy units within 2 tiles lose 30HP.

Rafael Urdaneta: All land combat units within 2 tiles regain all movement and attack.

Santiago Marino: +4 combat strength to all Melee and Anti Cavalry units within 2 tiles.

Manuel Piar: +7 combat strength to a unit.

Leader Agenda: Carabobo

As a leader Simon Bolívar focuses on promotion of his military units and Encampments and likes civilizations with lots of promoted military units and dislikes Civilizations without an elite army.

Unique Unit: Llanero

Industrial era Cavalry unit with +4 combat strength for each adjacent Llanero. Regains all HP when in range of a Commandante General that uses its retire ability. Replaces the cavalry unit.

Unique Ability: Ejercito Patriota
Grants their units +1 additional movement and can also promote units without missing a turn.

Unique Building: Hacienda

Must be built on Grassland, Grassland Hills, Plains, or Plain Hills tiles,  +2 gold, +1 Production, +1 Housing and + 1 Food from every 2 adjacent Plantations. This is increased to every plantation once you have completed the Replaceable  parts Technology. 

+ 1 Production for plantations and Haciendas for every 2 adjacent Haciendas with the Rapid Deployment civic.

Tips for gameplay.

Playing as  Simon Bolívar it’s best to take advantage of his military bonuses and build a large nimble army whether on the offence or defence. With the additional movement his military units receive and the ability to promote and move on the same turn you can have an unstoppable army to reach a Domination Victory.

New City State, New Resources.

A new city state has also been added in the frontier pass and replaces the city sate of Palenque.

New city State: Mitla
This is a Scientific city state with  envoy bonuses as follows.

Placing 1 Envoy there will give you + 2 science in the capital.

3 Envoys give +2 Science in every campus district and +2 for every Library building if you have the R&F expansion pack.

6 Envoys give +4 Science in every campus district, +2 Science in every University building.

Suzerain Bonus: City growth rate is 15% higher in cities with a campus district.

A few new resources are also included in the New frontier pass so far and they are Honey and Maize.

Along with the new additions to the resources, New Natural Wonders have been added and theses are…

The Bermuda Triangle:

+ 5 Science to adjacent tiles.

Naval units entering the Bermuda Triangle currents are granted  the Mysterious Currents ability 1+ movement and are directly teleported to a location on the other side of the world map.

Fountain of Youth:

It’s tile provides 4 Science and 4 Faith as well as fresh water and +2 Appeal to adjacent tiles. When a land unit enters the tiles they receive the Water of Life ability which gives them +10 HP healing in any territory.

Païtiti: 

Each Wonder tiles provides +2 Culture, +3 Gold and 2 Appeal to adjacent tiles. Gives a major boost to Theatre Squares and Commercial Hubs. Cities that own tiles of Païtiti gain a gold bonus on their Trade routes.

New Game Mode, New Disasters, New Competition

And last but not least we have a New Game Mode that introduces 2 new Disasters, a new scored Competition and the end game made of Apocalypse.

The Appease The Gods Competition is a special scored competition that triggers randomly throughout the games progress and involves the Soothsayer.

During the competition you can gain points for using the Soothsayers unit to sacrifice combat units to an adjacent active Volcano. The points you receive are equal to the scarified combat units melee strength.

Apocalypse mode new unit is the  Soothsayer , which can use the Cause a Disaster action to begin a random disaster in the tiles near the unit. Doing so destroys the Soothsayer if it has used all of its charges. Can trigger the following disasters, Forest Fires, Volcanic Eruptions, Dust Storms, Blizzards and  Floods on tiles near the Soothsayer. Can sacrifice friendly units to an active Volcano to earn score for the Appease the Gods Competition.

With the Apocalypse mode the intensity of the Disasters is set at 4 on the slider in the settings. This means that disasters are much more frequent and intense and damage tiles. The Climate Change Phase in the game starts at 1 instead of 0. More ice is lost and sea levels rise.

Two new disasters will start to occur on  every turn once the Climate change moves into Phase VII.

Solar Flares which affects the entire world will happen and be prepared for Comet Strikes to rain down on your cities and your opponent’s cities and obliterating them into nothingness and this signifies the end of the World.
