Serenabelina’s Introduction!

Hello Everyone!

Serenabelina here! I’m so excited to be joining the talented team of writers here at Ladies Gamers. Yvonne was kind enough to let me contribute my thoughts on my top 3 games of 2018 and I jumped at the chance to contribute further!

I’ve been interested in gaming and technology my whole life. I’m a major Nintendo fangirl, but also enjoy gaming on the Xbox or PlayStation, as well as the PC. My favorite genres are open world action-adventure type games (Legend of Zelda series, Fable III, Red Dead Redemption 2, etc). I also love simulation games and platformers (everything The Sims, almost any Nintendo exclusive platformer, ANIMAL CROSSING, etc). My husband is also a huge gamer, so between us, we have almost every console and handheld released since 1990. 😀

Walking into this castle for the first time is one of my favorite gaming memories!

When I’m not living vicariously through video games, I am doing my best to raise 2 tiny humans and 2 dogs (and sometimes a husband, amirite?). I am 34 years old and have been married for 11 years. Together, my husband and I have an 8-year-old son and a 4-year-old daughter. I also work full time as an IT Solutions Engineer, focusing on Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery. Basically, it’s my job to make sure our customers’ data is backed up and available if any type of disaster takes out their business. This could be due to a tornado, flood, or even something as simple as ransomware. Life tends to get a bit crazy, so I’ve been trying to add more focus on self-care this past year as well. I started doing yoga and found that I really enjoy it!

Gaston is my absolute favorite!

I’m super excited to be a contributor here. It’s great to have an outlet to share my love of gaming with like-minded peers. I’m sure many of you can relate to the reaction of most adults when you talk gaming, with the glossed-over eyes and yawns. 😉  I’m looking forward to contributing to an environment where we can get excited about things like release dates and pre-order bonuses! Animal Crossing 2019!!

    1. Hello TreeSprite!! I’m excited to dive in and not only review games in my wheelhouse, but also maybe expand my horizons a bit and find something new I love!

  1. Good thing you have your husband to share your enthusiasm with.It is indeed hard to talk about with non-gamers.
My mother and sister have heard of Nintendo and Pokemon, but beyond that it’s pretty much ‘I like it that you like it, but I have no idea what you’re talking about’ nods.
Good luck Serenabelina! (and GO ANIMAL CROSSING 2019!!!)

    1. Yes exactly! The only tough part about having a spouse with similar interests in sharing PC time. 😀 Some day, I hope to have my own PC build so we won’t have to share anymore! LOL

  2. Nice to have you on board Serenabelina! 😀

I am curious to know; do you still play your old consoles, or do you just keep to the most recent ones? The oldest console I keep set up is my original PS2 🙂

I look forward to your future articles! 😀

    1. Thanks! I have the Xbox 360 set up, but that’s mainly for my son to use. I LOVED my PS2! One of my favorite games was The Sims Castaway, believe it or not! 😀

  3. Welcome to the team!
I myself am a Nintendo fangirl, but also play a lot of Playstation. Have you tried Assassins Creed Odyssey yet? I’m loving it so far!

    1. Thank you!! I’ve been devoting a lot of my free time to Red Dead Redemption 2. It definitely one of my top 5 now. I’ve always been interested in Assassins Creed but have yet to play any of them. Is Odyssey something I could dive into without ever playing any of the previous titles? It looks so good!

      1. Odyssey is definitely its own game. I myself have only played Origins (in depth) before this one and there’s absolutely no need for previous playthroughs of the other games. The team focuses their games on more RPG elements now and both Origins and Odyssey are their own game. I 100% recommend Odyssey!

  4. I’m a little late to the party here, but welcome to the team Serenabelina! 🙂 We have a lot of similar interests when it comes to gaming. Similar to you and your husband, my husband and I own most of the consoles since the release of the Atari 😉 And I also can’t wait for Animal Crossing to come out this year!

    1. Hello Brandi! Thanks for the welcome! I am impatiently waiting for an Animal Crossing Nintendo Direct! I cannot wait!!!
