Pick 'n' Mix Games

8th Bag of Pick ‘n’ Mix Games

It’s the weekend, so it’s time for our tasty bag of Pick ‘n’ Mix Games!

The games listed here have been played by the contributors and all cost less than £15, but most will cost  less than £10. Games do go on sale from time to time, so if a game is on sale and we think it’s worth checking out; we shall be sure to mention it! 😀

Toki Tori – GBA, iOS, Android, 3DS, Switch

Jonah’s Pick

Toki Tori is a beautiful 2D platform puzzle game from Two Tribes.  I love this game so much that I’ve purchased it multiple times for Nintendo Systems.

Toki Tori is a small chicken that must retrieve his unhatched family following their kidnapping at the beginning of the game.  This is achieved by collecting every egg which has been scattered throughout a number of worlds.  Each world is made up of a series of levels which include easy, hard, and bonus stages.  As progress is made, new obstacles will appear, which will require the use of tools to overcome them such as laying platforms, teleporting, and even laying ghost traps.

Toki Tori is such a fun, colourful, and happy game that costs just under £5/$5 for Switch.  The 3DS version costs significantly less and features 3D support.

Little Alchemy 2 – iOS, Android, PC

Yvonne’s Pick

Today I want to mention Little Alchemy 2, a game you can play on your PC, iOS or Android mobile device. Not a new title, but a little game that can keep you busy. I assume there must have been an Alchemy 1, but that one never bleeped on my radar.

It’s a strangely addictive app, giving you the basic elements of the world and enticing you to combine them to get new elements. Sometimes it’s just logic (“mud” and  “fire” makes a “brick”) but others are more of a fun kind of combining. I mean, “Human” and “wheel” doesn’t make a cyclist…you’d need at least two wheels, lol. But it’s a fun little time waster, sometimes mindlessly trying all the possible combinations give unexpected results.

So, enough to try out and make as much combinations possible. The app is free to download and offers in-app purchases. They aren’t needed though to enjoy your time in the game.

Tactical Mind – Nintendo Switch

Evriun
Evriun’s Pick

If you like Checkers or Chess, I recommend taking a look at the 2 player strategy game; Tactical Mind. It can be played single player against the computer, or played locally as multiplayer (no online option unfortunately).

The aim of the game; to get a pawn (or pawns) across the map, to try and destroy your opponent’s crystal to win. It sounds easy, but with the ability to upgrade and to attack or stun pawns (your’s and your opponents), as well as there being additional crystals around (that can give a player an advantage); it becomes more difficult and involves a lot more thinking and adaptability to be successful – I find it great fun and has been a nice change to the usual games I play.

Although I have the Switch version of Tactical Mind, it is available on Steam, Android and iOS. It is currently £2.69 / €2,99 / $2.99 on the Nintendo Switch eShop (prices may vary on other platforms).

Red’s Kingdom – Switch, iOS, Android

Pikodoodle’s Pick

Red’s Kingdom is a relaxing and visually pleasing puzzle game. You roll around rooms, getting past obstacles and barreling into enemy squirrels. We reviewed the game before, find the review here.

It’s good value for money at $9.99 on Switch, $3.99 on Amazon’s Appstore for Android, and $2.99 for iOS.In my review of Red’s Kingdom, I said that it was perfect for short-burst gameplay. I played Red’s Kingdom when I had short gaps in my day: while waiting for dinner, during a tea break, etc.

Each puzzle room is short, taking only a few minutes or even seconds. The game allows you to save often. You’ll encounter the save game tile in most rooms, if I remember correctly. And even if you don’t save, puzzles are usually quick and easy to replay.

Sales News

The Switch eShop features deals on a couple of games we reviewed. For instance, Runbow is now half priced and Figment is 30% off. But I’ve even seen Lego Undercover on the Switch under $ 15! There’s always something new to explore, even if you only have a few dollars to spend.

That’s all folks!
So that’s a wrap for our Pick ‘n’ Mix Games list this week. If you purchase one of the listed games above; please let us know your thoughts in the comment section below.

The team at LadiesGamers wishes one and all a great weekend! 😀
