CJ’s Holiday Gaming Backlog

The end of the semester approaches! As I look forward to spending some quality time gaming, I decided it would be fun to put together a list of some of the games I have in my backlog that I’m looking forward to playing around the Christmas tree this year.

The World Ends With You: Final Remix and NEO: The World Ends With You

I adore the original The World Ends With You. And fully admit to not having finished it on the DS ( I lost two copies, ok? I just can’t keep my hands on it. Literally) so I really ought to start by playing through the Remix version released on the Switch before I dive into the sequel. I am going to spend some quality time slaying noise this Christmas for sure.

Game Builder Garage

I bought this when it came out, but the learning curve is so steep I haven’t broken into it yet. I’m a CSC major, so this will be a nice way to keep that part of my brain exercised in a fun way while I’m on holiday break. James reviewed the game here if you want to read more about it.

Disney Magical World 2

Nothing says “Christmas gaming” to me like playing Disney Magical World 2 on the 3DS. The Disney characters get so excited for the holiday, and on Christmas Day you can meet Santa himself! The snowy spectacles around the plazas are absolutely charming. I can’t wait to dive back into this title and hang out with all my Disney friends.

In addition, I just found out in researching this article that Disney Magical World 2: Enchanted Edition is coming to the Switch December 3rd! So I will definitely be playing that version as well.

Café Enchanté

These days, nothing is quite so synonymous with Christmas as Hallmark channel movies, and no game is closer to playing a Hallmark movie than Café Enchanté. Run a coffee shop you inherit from your grandfather while romancing an assortment of magical men? I’m so in! You can check out Yvonne’s opinion of the title here.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons Happy Home Paradise

A new expansion has come out and I haven’t even picked it up! Aaaaaah! This must be remedied as soon as I can get my head out of the Algebra problems and back into my Switch. I’ve heard such great things; I really can’t wait. We have a guide for Animal Crossing New Horizons Happy Home Paradise here.

Blue Reflection: Second Light

Don’t you love a good JRPG, I know I do and it’s even better if it involves some sim like element. I don’t know how I missed this title when it first came out, but I just rushed over to grab the last copy from my local game shop today. It’s from the same game developer as the Atelier games, Yvonne reviewed it and you can check out her thoughts here.

So that’s the breakdown of the games I’m looking forward to working on this coming holiday. How about you? Anything you plan to put more time into this December?
