Demo Monster Hunter Stories in Japan

Monster Hunter Stories is a spin off from the main Monster Hunter game and one that I have been really looking forward to. A couple of months ago I finally bought myself a copy of Monster Hunter Generations. Everyone was so enthusiastic I just had to see for myself just how good it was. (Find my absolute beginners impressions here)

As you might expect though, this upcoming spin off is probably very much my cup of tea. Look at the gorgeous visuals, look at the dragons you will be able to ride! Soon I will be able to see it for myself, as on September 20 I will download a demo copy on my Japanese 3DS. In this article you will find some more information about the game.

Monster Hunter Stories

This RPG adventure has turn-based battles, the kind that I really like. You explore the world of “monster riders” in the game and they are different from monster hunters: they have deep connections with monsters. Finding, hatching and grooming monsters will be part of the adventure. This time you get to befriend wyverns such as Rathalos rather than slaying them for their scales.

The demo has two modes for players to check out. “Quest Mode” basically lets you try out a Monster Hunter Stories quest. “Tournament Mode” will give a taste of Rider battles against the battle computer. As a bonus, players with save data from the demo get a special item. A Nabiru Rider Impersonation costume for Monster Hunter Stories when it releases in Japan on October 8, 2016.

I will keep you updated on my demo experiences!

  1. As you already know, I really enjoy the mainline Monster Hunter titles. Monster Hunter Stories looks like a really cute spinoff version of it that I’d be interested in playing, already being familiar with most of the monsters. I’m looking forward to your impressions of the demo! Lucky that you have a Japanese 3DS to play it on!

  2. I love the main Monster Hunter titles, and I am desperately looking forward to this spin-off.

I can’t wait to read what you have to say about it.

We love to hear from you!
