Doraemon: Nobita’s Story of Seasons announced in Japan

Remember when we got a cross over game with Story of Seasons and PopoLoCrois? In this weeks Nintendo Direct a game was announced for Japan only: Doraemon Nobita no Bokujou Monogatari. A mouthful, but Bokujou Monogatari is the original name of the games we know as Story of Seasons. And Doraemon is a character that has quite a fanbase in Japan. Surprising too, when you realise we don’t have a Story of Seasons game yet on Switch.

Don’t you agree it looks just like a game we would love for our Switch? When I saw the game is being developed by Studio Brownies I was instantly in. You see, Studio Brownies also made Egglia: the Legend of the Redcap for mobile a couple of years ago. Lovely art style. I read a year ago that the studio was working on a Switch title, apparently this was it! (read my about Egglia here)

Doraemon (Japanese name ドラえもん) is a manga character that has his own anime series and franchise, and is very popular in Japan. He is even declared by the Japanese Foreign Ministry as being a cultural icon.  The story revolves around a robotic cat named Doraemon, who travels back in time from the 22nd century to aid a boy named Nobita Nobi.

This cross over game has you playing as Nobita, who takes care of animals, harvests the crops, and chats with the neighbours in town. Doraemon characters appear in this game, as well as Doraemon’s iconic secret tools.

Up till now there have been 63 video games revolving around Doraemon, from platformers to RPG. But this will be the first simulation game. The thing is, that all 63 haven’t made it outside of Japans’ borders. Let’s hope this game breaks the mould.

  1. I feel like the only real thing that motivates me in the seasons games is marriage or a story to beat. If it has an ending I’d be interested in it. The graphics look really nice and I like what I saw of a few episode of the more recent anime.
