Gaming Cup of Coffee, week 26

Yep, we are here, the half way mark of 2016. It always amazes me how quickly the years fly by when you get older. July 1st today, and the Summer Holidays are ready to start. Over here in the Netherlands kids only get 6 weeks of free fun, and our small country is divided in three regions too. So not everyone has their Summer holiday at the same time. The children here in the south of the country will have to wait for three more weeks. Judging by the still awful weather that’s not a problem at all!

Anyway, come on in. What will it be this week, coffee or tea? I’ll just stick to my black coffee, it’s not time yet to splurge: my beach body hasn’t arrived yet…Let’s look at the gaming news:

Teddy Together released in Europe

Teddy Together is a title that has been flying under the radar, it only popped up on mine a couple of days ago. The game is aimed at kids and the casual gaming market and I couldn’t resist mentioning it here. If you love Nintendogs and had a virtual pet in the 90’s, you’re in for a treat: Teddy Together lets you take care of your very own walking, talking teddy bear! You can feed, dress and play with it using the touchscreen, and do mini games. What impresses me the most though is that this inquisitive little bear loves to learn and will ask you questions and remembers the answers too.

The game is available in the Europe, no release date yet for America. I’ve downloaded the free demo, and I’ll give you my thoughts about it this weekend. For now, here’s the trailer.

MiiTomo in more countries

As off yesterday, MiiTomo has been released in Mexico, South Africa and Switzerland as well. This means the app game is available for download in 19 countries. Plus, there has been an update, that adds integration with Facebook Messenger and WhatsApp. There has been talk too that notable Mii can visit you in your game, but as I understand it, that’s a Japan only feature for now.Miitomo

NX confirmed for March 2017

Nintendo had a shareholders meeting this week, where they confirmed the NX launch for a worldwide release in March 2017. And that’s about all they had to tell about their new machine. Meanwhile, we are getting more curious and curious!

What interested me a lot about the Q&A session at the shareholders meeting, that one shareholder wanted to protest to Kimishima that Nintendo’s Board of Directors is all male. She is so right (at least, I can only assume it’s a woman): With half of the gaming market being female by now, Nintendo should take a good look at the way women’s views are represented in the company. Kimishima answered that there are many female employees and that their opinions are applied in product development. Meh…not good enough! (Image thanks to i.ytimg.com)Nintendo, female character

7th Dragon III Code: VFD’s demo is downloadable in the American eShop

Atlas released the demo for 7th Dragon III Code: VFD in the American eShop. I was interested in the game, and downloaded it. It’s the first ever Dragon Code game that will be released outside of Japan.

This is the info about the game (thanks Siliconera):

In 7th Dragon III Code: VFD, the world is engulfed in a time of darkness and great peril. In the year 2100, dragons have descended upon Earth and humanity is at the mercy of these terrifying beasts. However, not all is lost. As the protagonist, the player will team up with Nodens Enterprises — a video game company dedicated to stopping the dragon menace — to become a dragon hunter and eventual savior of the universe. Although times are bleak, Nodens Enterprises has found a way to tip the scales in favor of mankind: By traveling through time to three different eras, the protagonist can upset the balance of the dragons’ power. This will give them the edge to defeat the True Dragons, and stand a chance against the most powerful one of them all… the 7th Dragon: VFD.

Gave the demo a try yesterday. And to be honest, I’m not sure. I was kinda lost about what to do and it didn’t appeal to me yet. Are you going to look for this game? The full game will be released in America on July 12.7th dragon, dragon III

Lego Star Wars, the Force Awakens released

A long wait for the fans, but finally Lego Star Wars The Force Awakens has been released in the past week. For various consoles, and handheld devices like the 3DS and Vita. Plus, it was released in all regions too. I do love the specific Lego brand of humour in the games, and having witnessed the original release of Star Wars way back, I thoroughly enjoyed this new movie. I’ll hold off on buying the game for now though. Did you pick up one of the versions?Star Wars, Lego, Force awakens
