Gaming News for the Weekend

It’s that time again, let’s look at the Handheld Gaming News that stood out to me this week! This time it’s about a release date for Woven, a physical release for SteamWorld Quest: Hand of Gilgamech, renovating an apartment in Tools Up!, playing god in The Mims: Beginning, Playstation game Dreams-Creator, the Atelier Dusk Trilogy and an insight in the consumer base who is buying a Switch Lite.

Woven has a release date!

A few weeks ago we featured upcoming game Woven, made by Dutch gaming studio Alterego Games. I’m glad to see this cute and colourful game is close as Atlerego announced that they are releasing the game together with publisher StickyLock soon. In fact, very soon: november 15 is the date for release on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and Steam (Windows PC, MacOS and Linux).

In Woven, you explore a woollen world where stuffed animals once lived in peace. Search for hidden secrets and customize your character with different animal shapes to solve puzzles. Woven is an epic adventure with two very unlikely heroes and a story narrated in rhyme. Want to know more about it? You can find our previous article here.

SteamWorld Quest: Hand of Gilgamech gets a physical release

Some of our writers have already put their reviews up on the site for SteamWorld Quest games by Image & Forms. The reviews are quite positive, even leading to a Two Thumbs Up for Hand of Gilgamech (our highest rating). If you want to give the game a try, but would rather have a physical copy instead of download, Super Rare Games have announced their partnership with Image & Form Games and Thunderful Publishing to physically release Steamworld Quest: Hand of Gilgamech for the Nintendo Switch.

Pre-orders for the game open on November the 7th, exclusively at superraregames.com. The game is expected too ship on November 11, and each game will include a full-colour manual, an exclusive sticker and a 3 card trading card pack.

Find out why ChamZen gave it the two-thumbs up here.

Do you like your home renovation shows on tv? Don’t fancy to take on your own home as you aren’t a DIY pro? You can now enjoy renovating a home without getting speckled in paint with Tools Up! The Knights of Unity and All in! Games are teaming up to move into your living room with this couch co-op. Tools Up! is coming to Nintendo Switch, PS4, Windows, and Xbox One just in time for your upcoming family gathering(s) in December. You can play the game with up to four friends and race against the clock to move and renovate an apartment.

The Mims: Beginning is coming on Switch

Do you like to be able to control everything in a game? Create structures, plant vegetation, breed animals, take care of your minions, use divine PSI powers, triumph in face of natural disasters, fight monsters, predict the future, and so much more….The the upcoming The Mims: the Beginning might be a game for you.

There is always much to do in The Mims, like farming, crafting, skill learning, livestock raising and trading, etc… You will also be gifted with a few Devine powers to help make sure everything stays going smoothly.

The game is coming on November 11.

Dreams – Creator might make it to Switch as well

Usually, we feature games that might make it from Steam over to the Switch. But sometimes another route is imaginable too: from Playstation to Switch. Media Molecule revealed in an interview with GamesIndustry.biz, that they are currently considering to expand the universe beyond the PlayStation platform to allow creators to share their Dreams with anyone in the world (and of course make a good penny doing so).

Dreams is currently available on PlayStation 4 through Early Access only. Much like the level editor in Little Big Planet, the tools provided in Dreams come with an endless amount of options where you can explore, experience and play in the limitless imagination of players around the world. We will just have to wait and see.

Atelier Dusk Trilogy physical release?

Atelier Ryza Ever Darkness & the Secret Hideout is freshly out now on Switch. Which would almost make us forget that one of the older trilogies is due on the Switch as well. The Dusk Trilogy has Atelier Ayesha, Atelier Logy & Escha and Atelier Shallie neatly packed into one.

KoeiTecmo share this lovely trailer with us, and has over the past few days also been asking about whether players might be interested in a physical release. So maybe that will be in the works too!

More lady gamers are flocking to the Switch!

The Switch Lite seems to be doing well for Nintendo. In their 6 month Financial Results Briefing the company reported that the Lite added to the regular sales of the Switch, which continued at the same steady pace that it had set this summer. It doesn’t seem to have a negative impact!

What’s even more interested is that Switch Lite buyers who have registered their Nintendo Account show a higher percentage of female users. This compared to the status before the launch of Nintendo Switch Lite across the world. The female consumer base seems to be growing!
