Gaming News Week 26

Come on in, get yourself a nice cup of coffee or tea and pull up a chair.

And really, I can do with that chair today as I got it in my head to give our kitchen a big cleaning job. It’s always more work than you think upfront, but it’s done. Time to get that cup of coffee.

Anyway, let’s take a look at the news that caught our eye this week; enjoy!

Pikmin 4 Has a Demo on Switch

In the last Nintendo Direct, we got a first look at Pikmin 4, coming to the Nintendo Switch only on July 21st. If you are looking forward to this adventure game, you will be pleased to know that there’s a demo out on Switch now.

You will play the first day of the game, and your progress will be carried over once you download the full game. Just looking at the dog Oatchi makes you wanna play, doesn’t it?

Coral Island Steam Deck Verified

Farm sim Coral Island, currently available on Steam in Early Access, is now Steam Deck Verified! You’ll be able to play the game with no issues at all, and dive into Coral Island on the go!

Cuteness Overload in Pups & Purrs Pet Shop

Prepare yourself for cuddly cuteness overload as Pups & Purrs Pet Shop sets up business on August 10th for Nintendo Switch. This simulation from Aksys Games lets players explore their dream job of taking care of adorably fluffy friends and managing a pet shop.

In Pups and Purrs Pet Shop, you help run an adorable pet shop where you are tasked with the care of cute fluffy friends. Unlock various breeds of dogs and cats (18 in all) to bring into the shop and become an expert in animal care. As you learn the ropes through 20 mini-games, you’ll gain more responsibilities at the shop, from trimming and brushing the pets to vacuuming the shop, and running the register. Work hard to improve your care and find these pets their forever home!

Don’t forget to focus on the shop, too! Keep it nice and clean by vacuuming often, and make sure to attend to the register. Level up and you will have the opportunity to give the shop’s Play Room a makeover by completing challenges and earning items to make a fun environment for the pets. This keeps both the pets and the customers happy!

Farm Manager World on Steam

Here, at LadiesGamers, we love our city-building games, but do you know we also love farm builders? A while ago we put up a guide for Farm Tycoon, which was the Switch version of Farm Manager, and it got loads of attention. So with interest, I read that the Farm Manager series will get a new instalment. The new game is called Farm Manager World, and it will allow players to take on this challenge on an even larger scale. The game is coming to Early Access on Steam soon.

You won’t be stuck on your own plot of land, instead, the world will be wide open. This will give us a completely new opportunity: Farm Manager World will give you the chance to grow a variety of crops from different parts of the world. Start your farm in Europe or Central America, and then expand your agricultural business into Asia in the near future. Although it will not be an easy task though, you will get all the necessary tools to succeed.

Looking forward to that!

Wavetale on Sale

Relaxing adventure game Wavetale has a new accolades trailer up, with all manner of praise for this beautiful platformer. Yair reviewed the game and give it our highest score too (find his review here). The good news then is that the game is on sale in the Nintendo eShop, at a discount of 40% till the 19th of July 2023 in America, but only till July 2nd in Europe, so be quick!

Physical Version for Mineko’s Midnight Market

Mineko’s Midnight Market is getting close, coming to Switch, PS5 and Steam on September 26th this year. Merge Games has revealed there will also be physical versions for the Switch and PS5. In the game, you play as Mineko, a curious girl. She has just arrived at her new home on a struggling Japanese-inspired island at the base of Mount Fugu. The superstitious locals on the island worship the Sun Cat, Nikko. What was always thought to be a long-told myth has the town puzzled, as sightings of Nikko have begun to surface among the residents of the island in recent days.

Mythwrecked: Ambrosia Island Release Window

Whitethorn Games has revealed a release window for Mythwrecked: Ambrosia Island: Summer 2024. Paula had the pleasure of checking out the demo a while back and liked this friendship-building exploration adventure. The new trailer can be seen below.

Battle of Polytopia Gets Cosmetic DLC

Swedish indie game developer Midjiwan AB has just released a new cosmetic DLC pack for Battle of Polytopia, a cute-yet-tough 4X strategy game. Paula gave it our highest rating, as you can see in her review here.

The Battle of Polytopia would make an excellent starting ground for players who want to get into the 4X strategy before taking on other games in the genre similar to Civilization and such.

To celebrate the update, Battle of Polytopia is 50% off on Nintendo Switch and Steam until July 13th!

Let’s School, Even During the Summer Holiday

Pathea Games, the developer behind My Time at Portia and My Time at Sandrock is bringing us a new kind of game. In Let’s School, which will release on July 27th on Steam, you literally have to build your school from the ground up. The demo feedback on Steam has been very positive, so we will keep an eye out for this game.

That’s it for this week; thanks for reading!
