Gaming News weekend 31

It’s that time again, time to bring this week’s handheld gaming news. News that stood out to us, gathered this week by Paula, Sean and yours truly.

This week, we have news about Kickstarter The Kind Camomille Coming Soon, Stardew Valley Special Edition, Summer Update wave 2 for Animal Crossing: New Horizons, details of Atelier Ryza 2: Lost Legends & the Secret Fairy, Pokken Tournament Free trial, how to Backup and Restore Island Save Data in Animal Crossing, update Very Easy Patch for Atelier Ryza: Ever Darkness & the Secret Hideout and Nintendo feels the impact of Covid-19.

Kickstarter The Kind Camomille Coming Soon

We mentioned The Kind Camomille a couple of weeks before: a sweet and wholesome game, that has now been put up to reach Kickstarter status. The game needs 300 sign-ups to reach the next phase, so if this is your kind of game, be sure to check it out the upcoming Kickstarter project here.

You play as a mouse who is on an ambitious journey to see her grandmother who is about to celebrate her 100th birthday! The journey takes the little mouse on a long adventure where you will be meeting a bunch of other little creatures who may ask you for some help as well.

Stardew Valley Special Edition

Last week we alerted you to the tweet by Fangamer, the main publisher behind different physical copies of indie games as well as collector’s editions of games such as Undertale and even Hollow Knight. They promised something exiting for Stardew Valley and now we know what it is: a Special Edition!

It will be shipped on November 6 and costs $69.00 for the Switch version (and $ 64.00 for the PC version) on the The Collector’s Edition, that can be ordered here, includes:

Summer Update wave 2 for Animal Crossing: New Horizons

If you’re a fan, you can’t have missed it: the second wave of the Summer Update in New Horizons is here! In this update the Dream Suite is added and Fireworks. Of course, we already know about them from New Leaf but still, another nice addition to the game.

The recent update for the ever-popular Animal Crossing New Horizons includes a host of new content for us all to enjoy. One of the features getting the most discussion is the new version of the ‘dream suite’ seen in New Leaf. Now all we need to do is follow the information from new character Luna and use a bed at our own discretion. This giving us the option to enter into the dream world allowing us to visit other islands. Sadly you must already know the address of the island you want to visit… which sort of defeats the point of the process in my eyes.

A new search feature for Able Sister designs is a fantastic new feature allowing you to pinpoint items you want to find. And the fun new Sunday firework display should keep us all entertained during this rather bizarre real world summer. Every Sunday evening at 7 p.m. it offers other activities as players are able to purchase raffle tickets to unlock various new prizes.

Details of Atelier Ryza 2: Lost Legends & the Secret Fairy

This week we got some details of the sequel to Atelier Ryza! Yep, exited here!

This is from the news that Koei Tecmo published: “In Atelier Ryza 2: Lost Legends & the Secret Fairy, Ryza returns for an all-new adventure, this time set three years after her heroic efforts in Atelier Ryza: Ever Darkness & the Secret Hideout. This dynamic sequel revolves around Ryza’s journey to the Royal Capital of Ashra-am Baird as she explores ancient ruins while seeking the truth behind the mystery of the lost legends. Along the way, she will be able to learn a number of new skills to help her successfully navigate the dangers of her surroundings, including the ability to swim. Ryza’s newfound swimming techniques help her not only discover aquatic materials but also the entrance to an underwater dungeon.

Throughout her journey, Ryza will once again be joined by her fun-loving group of mischievous friends. The first of these old companions confirmed for Ryza 2 is Klaudia. The only daughter of a merchant family, Klaudia has been working in the Royal Capital, but all the while, thinking back to the adventure she had with Ryza three years prior. Klaudia still has the desire to live a more exciting life, and now finds her fate once again intertwined with Ryza as they regroup inside the Royal Capital. Also joining Ryza this time around is a mysterious creature known as Fi. The creature doesn’t speak, but is very expressive and full of emotion, bonding quickly with Ryza while helping her seek answers to the true meaning of the lost legends.”

The new game is expected this winter and if you decide to get the game during the first two weeks of release you will receive a free Early Purchase Bonus code for the Summer Fashion Costume Set.

Pokken Tournament Free trial

The largely underrated Pokken Tournament is free to download for an extended trial period from today. The spin-off Pokemon title allows players to pit the little beasts against each other within a fighting genre design. A mix of the words Tekken and Pokemon in the title should really tell you all you need to know! Head on over to the eshop to try out this hidden gem now!

How to Backup and Restore Island Save Data in Animal Crossing

The update for Animal Crossing also brought some form of saving your island online, in case you Switch is stolen or damaged. If you have an online subscription you can activate it by pressing the – button. Your island will be saved at Nintendo’s servers, but you can only get access to it through Nintendo themselves. And only if something is seriously wrong with your Switch.
Not yet a perfect solution, but it’s something. Because who would want to lose those many, many hours of gameplay?

Nintendo feels the impact of Covid-19

Whilst the majority of businesses have suffered under lockdown measures, Nintendo seems to be reaping the rewards . Sales for their Switch consoles have more than doubled in the first 6 months of the year. This brings them way ahead of the Xbox One in the console wars. A remarkable feat given the graphical limitations of the handheld hybrid and the later release date of the console!

Update Very Easy Patch for Atelier Ryza: Ever Darkness & the Secret Hideout

A fourth major free update is coming for Atelier Ryza: the Very Easy Patch. Koei Tecmo and Gust released the new difficulty to allow players to thoroughly enjoy the story. As I’m currently playing Atelier Ryza this piqued my interest, as the storyline in Ryza is one I really want to finish.

Players can now access the Very Easy difficulty setting through the options menu. It essentially makes some of the tougher enemies easier to defeat. Furthermore, all enemies defeated in battle will reward players with more experience points and gold! Sweet!
