Gaming News Weekend 4

It’s that time again, time for the weekend gaming news! This weekend, we’ve got news about: going with the flow in Lumini, a demo for Yooka-Laylee, Snackworld: the Dungeon Crawl Gold is getting close, Aksys plans an Otome invasion on the Switch, Lost Words: Beyond the Page looks great, Hotel Afterlife is for Graveyard Keeper fans, Target’s pre-order bonus for AC New Horizons and Epic Universe is being built in Orlando.

Go with the Flow in Lumini

Dutch developer 2Awesome Studio has brought a special game to the Nintendo Switch: Lumini. They are a long-forgotten species, having vanished without trace for thousands of years. Now, they have returned to their home world. Sadly, time has not been kind and the balance of the planet has shifted, turning the once gentle environment into a hostile landscape.

Only the Lumini themselves can restore balance and help revive their long-dormant race, before adapting to preserve the future for generations to come. Explore the Lumini home world in this relaxing flow-style adventure, overcoming obstacles and keeping your swarm safe while collecting the planet’s energy to bring back your fallen comrades. Split and reform your swarm, evolve and discover new abilities to bring the Lumini back to their former glory…

Try before you buy!

With so many good games out on Switch, sometimes it’s hard to chose which one you are going to spend your hard earned cash on. It helps when you can give it a go before buying. Soon, a free demo of Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair is on the way!

Yooka Laylee LadiesGamers.com

It’s available on Steam from the 23rd of January and on Switch/PS4 on the 30th of January. The Xbox is yet to be announced. Paula made a review of the game (find it here).

Snack World Switch is getting close

Not long to wait now before you can finally get your hands on Snackworld: the Dungeon Crawl Gold. It’ll arrive on February 14th. Check out the latest trailer: it reminds me a lot of Fantasy Life. Looks good!

Otome invasion on the Switch

Aksys Games announced their upcoming lineup of Otome titles this week, all coming to the Nintendo Switch in 2020.

Two classic Code: Realize entries are launching soon, with ~Guardian of Rebirth~ coming February 6th and ~Future Blessings~ in April. The Code: Realize games explore the story of Cardia and her adventures in a steampunk version of Victorian England, where she encounters a cast of intriguing gentlemen based on characters from history and literature. Guardian of Rebirth was my first ever Otome game and I loved it! (my thoughts on it here)

Collar X Malice and Collar X Malice -Unlimited- will follow in the Summer. Players assume the role of a young police officer tasked with restoring order. Both of them will probably be rated M.

There are also two brand-new Otome titles, Piofiore: Fated Memories and Cafe Enchante, scheduled for the end of the year. Piofiore: Fated Memories follows the adventures of Lily, an orphan caught up in the struggle between Mafia organizations in Italy just after the First World War. In Cafe Enchante tells the story of when a young girl inherits her grandfather’s eatery only to discover that none of the patrons are human. Both of these games have not been rated yet.

Lost Words: Beyond the Page has a new trailer

Publisher Modus Games and developer Sketchbook Games have released a new gameplay trailer for Lost Words: Beyond the Page.

Lost Words is an inventive and touching tale of a young girl’s personal growth and will be released this spring.

This new trailer, narrated by the game’s female protagonist, Izzy, provides a glimpse of the fantasy world of Estoria and the moving emotional journey of a young writer using creativity and her journal to deal with life’s adventures. Izzy’s recollections and imagination inspire breathtaking scenes of a vibrant, evocative world, unfolding new moments within an emotional story brimming with joyous, childlike zeal and mounting poignancy as that innocence adapts to life’s realities

Hotel Afterlife: for Graveyard Keeper fans

A title I’m not actually sure about is Hotel Afterlife. But then I remembered I balked at Graveyard Keeper too at first, and actually had a blast in the game. Hotel Afterlife is a strategy game that will be released on the PC at the end of 2020. An on the Switch and other consoles as well.

The creators from Alrauna Studio announce that Hotel Afterlife will allow the “purification of sinful souls” and will be a title addressed to fans of Two Point Hospital and Dungeon Keeper series, among others…”.

Target’s pre-order bonus

This week I highlighted several pre-order bonuses for Animal Crossing New Horizons. For when you go ‘physical’! Target now has a bonus too that I can’t help but share: a lovely journal!

Epic Universe will house Super Nintendo World

We are big fans of the Orlando theme parks, and in fact, another trip is upcoming. But for this one, we will have to wait a bit longer: Universal Orlando will have a new theme park, called Epic Universe. And one of the  things to see and experience there is Super Nintendo World! But it’ll be ready in 2023 at the earliest!

That’s it for now, have a great weekend!
