Gaming News weekend 48

This week we have news about Bee Simulator, Space Invaders Forever, the music of Alwa’s Awakening, board game Evolution, Nordlicht and Traffix.

Bee Simulator on Steam

One year after the game released on the Switch, Bee Simulator is now out on Steam as well. This news drew my attention because this is the only game that we reviewed, where the review included two opinions. Paige played it and gave it a grudging “I like it (a bit)” while bee lover Ash absolutely had a blast with the same title.  (the review is found here). Anyway, if you skipped on playing the game on Switch, now you can find it in Steam as well!

The Invaders are Back

Remember the arcade game Space Invaders, made in 1978 for Attari? The much anticipated Space Invaders Forever (Switch/PS4), and they will arrive both digitally and boxed on the 11th of December. And of course, our retro specialist James will be taking a look at it for his review.

Control the Traffic Lights in Traffix!

Nerd Monkeys and Infinity games are working together to bring Traffix to the Nintendo Switch. In Traffix, the roads are places where chaos, stress and anger reign, especially in big cities. So, I’m guessing much like in real life? In the game, you can drive and organize the traffic flow in the biggest cities around the world like Lisbon, Paris, Tokyo or Las Vegas. You do this by taking control of the traffic lights!
Ensure drivers satisfaction and safety, but be warned, there are incredible bad drivers. Don’t stress!
Traffix will be released on the Nintendo Switch on December 21st and the game will be available on Nintendo eShop with a pre-order discount of 20% on its original price.

Alwa’s Awakening OST

In the past few years we reviewed two games for Alwa’s Awakening on the site. James reviewed Alwa’s Legacy last October and loved this wholesome Metroidvania style game. (Find James’ review here). Alwa’s Awakening was reviewed a couple of years ago by Tim (find his review here). As Tim often dd, he paid particular attention to the music in the game, mentioning:

The soundtrack has a great energy to it; works great when adventuring around Alwa, while adding mood and atmosphere to some of the more obscure sections. Also, the tracks are available via Elden Pixels’ youtube channel and can be purchased on a NES cartridge – so cool!

For the fans of the series it’s good news to know that now the original soundtrack of the game is available in the Thunderful Shop and it’s available as a NES Cartridge or on Vinyl.

Alwa’s Awakening has a beautiful and catchy soundtrack. Created using the same techniques composers and sound designers had back in the day, it delivers an authentic 8-bit sound. With chiptunes that will stay in your head for hours, the Alwa’s Awakening OST perfectly complements exploring mythical worlds, adventurous walks outdoors or completing that epic task that will save the day for all your co-workers.”

Nordlicht in the eShop now

We are always on the lookout for special games, right? Nordlicht is an adventure game that landed in the eShop today that looks very interesting indeed. So, what’s it about?

In Nordlicht you accompany an unusual family on a fascinating journey to the cold North. You control the curious Aurora, Peter Parsley (her guinea pig and best friend, who refuses to leave her side), and her clever dad, Rupert. Along their way, they discover the mysterious constellations of the polar night sky, and will have to face the dangers created by mother nature and their own fears. Sometimes, you’ll use and combine items you find in the traditional point-and-click manner. Other times, you’ll have to put your dexterity and reaction time to the test as you brave icebergs, giant waves, and thunderstorms in your little sailboat. The intuitive controls, atmospheric music, and lovingly hand-drawn graphics make Nordlicht an unforgettable experience—fun for all ages.

Evolution, the Board Game is Coming to Switch

At the beginning of 2019 I had the pleasure to review Evolution on mobile. I didn’t know the board game before that, but I did learn that Evolution first was an award winning board game with more than 1.6 million players! I loved it on my iPad, and in my conclusion I wrote:

Everything plays so smoothly, no glitches. I’m very happy that I got the chance to get to know Evolution: the Video Game. And I can’t help but think that this game would be a wonderful game to add to the Switch library.

So, wishes do come true: Evolution is landing in the Nintendo eShop! The description of the game is that you have to adapt your species to survive, and stay one step ahead of opponents. So, adept or go extinct!

Here’s my review on mobile, and I will look at the Switch game to see if it’s just as good!
