Gaming with a Cuppa, news week 29

Come on in my friend, another week has passed since we chatted about handheld gaming news. It’s been another hot week too: the Netherlands hasn’t seen much rain and tropical temperatures for some 8 weeks now. Very unusual, and when you take into account that our houses don’t normally have air-conditioning, you get the picture. No fun for me, nor for the garden that looks a sorry affair.

This is my last news segment for a couple of weeks. My long awaited holiday is here, and although I will still be connected to the internet, gathering the news is a bit too challenging while away. So I will be leaving you in the capable hands of Jonah and the rest of the team!

LadiesGamers.com is growing

It’s been another good week on the site. Our very own YouTube channel is up! Now, before you go thinking that I’m live-streaming like the YouTube celebrities are doing these days: let’s start out in a moderate way. The games Jonah reviews have game footage on there, and after my holidays,  my reviewed games will join his.

No voice overs yet, just little old me doing an intro line. But we are working on that. Plus, it might be a cool idea to put these Handheld Gaming news segments on there too! You can find the channel here:   YouTube LadiesGamers.com

I decided to join Ko-Fi: if you like our content and want to help us keep up the good work, then consider buying us a cuppa on our Ko-Fi Page. No obligation, you are always very welcome on here no matter what. But it will help pay the cost that comes with a website, and help us bring even better content to you. The Ko-Fi page is here!

Reviews for the past week

Though the steady stream of games coming to the eShop is lessening a bit because of the holidays, we had the chance to review some good games for you. Here they are:

For now though, pull up your chair, get yourself a real cup of coffee or tea, and let’s take a look at what Handheld Gaming News stood out to me.

Ever Oasis is one year old

It been one year since Ever Oasis was released on the 3DS. A sweet looking RPG that I had looked forward to for some time back then!

To celebrate the game’s special first anniversary, Koichi Ishii has revealed some brand new Ever Oasis artwork. Doesn’t it look gorgeous?

New Edition Art Book Zelda Breath of the Wild

For all you Zelda fans out there: Dark Horse Comics has announced a brand-new version of its upcoming “The Legend Of Zelda: Breath of The Wild – Creating A Champion” art book. Set to launch on November 20, the Hero’s Edition consists of sketches, official illustrations, artwork, exclusive interviews and more.

WILL: Wonderful World coming in English

You know how I love a good story line in a game. So this caught my attention. Circle Entertainment and 4D Door Games has announced its latest story-driven RPG will release on Nintendo Switch later this year. It’s developed by WMY Studio, an indie developer based in China, and this will be the first English version.

The game has been on Steam for a year now, and has been positively received. In the game you help people who write to you needing help. By rearranging the order and combinations of sentences in these letters, you are going to alter the destiny of whomever that wrote them. So you had better think carefully of the consequences before making each decision.

Digimon Survive comes to the Switch!

I didn’t grow up with Digimon and my daughter only watched Pokémon. But after playing Digimon Cyber Sleuth some years back I have been keeping my eye on them. Now I’m happy to say a new Digimon game will be coming to the Switch next year. It’s said to be a different take on the series with a mix of many genres featuring a story told as a visual novel and strategy RPG battles.

Not much is known about the story, but the main characters were out camping when they suddenly get thrown into another world. Their lives are in dangers as they find themselves in a merciless world filled by ferocious creatures. This marks the beginning of a new survival adventure. The protagonist is named Takuya Momotsuka (subject to change), a second-year middle school student (8th grade) who find himself in another world. His partner is Agumon.

Atelier, the Arland series coming to the Switch

Great news for the fans of the Atelier series: Atelier Rorona, Atelier Meruru and Atelier Totori are coming to the Switch in one package! All three games come with a bunch of DLC including a download code for the original soundtrack of the game. Japan is also getting a limited edition ~Alchemists of Arland 1, 2, 3~ DX Premium Box will be available featuring all three games for 13,800 yen plus tax.

It is scheduled to be released in Japan on September 20. No news yet on a Western release.

Fantasy Life on mobile live in Japan

The mobile version of Fantasy Life will be live on July 23 in Japan. I know, not exactly the version of the game we were hoping for (a Switch version or a new one for the 3DS would be better) but still: something to look forward to. No news on the western release yet.

That’s it for this week. Thanks once again for reading, and a Happy Gaming Weekend!
