The Gameplay of Genius Moves!
In Genius Moves, we must guide adorable animals through 100 relaxing yet brain-teasing levels. We have to arrange the path so the animal can collect all the food with the least number of steps. The pieces for the route are in the form of action blocks at the bottom of the screen.
Genius Moves! has over 100 levels, divided between 4 worlds, from lush meadows to mysterious skies. There is a gradual increase in challenge, enough to get used to the gameplay and relax.
With each level, we collect diamonds that we can use to buy cute critters once we unlock them. There are more than 20 critters, from squirrels and bunnies to dragons and pandas. Genius Moves has no timer and no limit to our attempts. The only thing to pay attention to is making the shortest path possible. The game assigns stars at the end of a completed level.
As mentioned above, we have action blocks to arrange the path. The possible actions are moving forward, rotating left or right, and looping inside. If we don’t put enough blocks for the path, the animal stops and waits for the next try or falls off the edge of the land in the water. Then, we try again. With each level, we have new challenges to overcome, but the game continually gets challenging to the point of being impossible. It is meant to be relaxing, after all.
A Cute World
Visually Genius Moves! is an adorable, colorful game. The animals and everything else are very round and cubic simultaneously. The movements in animation are very snappy and responsive. The game’s controls are all point-and-click. The music is pleasant enough not to want to turn it off. There’s a subtle sense of humour in the sassy way the animals comment when you make the wrong choice. It’s all speech in bubbles, by the way.
Some Side Notes
Genius Moves hasn’t any Steam Achievements or Trading cards yet. In terms of settings, you can turn off music and sounds.
Conclusion
Genius Moves! offers a few hours of charming logic puzzles. It’s nothing too special, nothing unseen, but if you like logic games and you are in the mood for some colorful coziness, Genius Moves! might be just the game for you.
