Hello my friend, come on in for a nice cuppa while we chat Handheld Gaming News! What can I get you, a cup of coffee with the works, or just plain black? Or would tea be more to your liking? Anyway, sit down and we will see what news stood out to me this week.
More news about Ever Oasis for 3DS
Nintendo released a short video about upcoming title Ever Oasis. This brand-new game will be released on June 23. The clip shows us how our Seedling character came to life, and shows the oasis he is bound to protect. In the game, deserts spread out across the world. The only habitable places are oases, which are created, tended, and protected by beings known as Seedlings. However, Chaos roams the land and makes its animals turn savage, which means Seedlings and their oases are constantly threatened by monsters.
Every time I see and read more about Ever Oasis, I get more exited. This game seems to be right up my ally!
Trying to re-stock: Switch was shipped by plane

Nintendo predicted a sales in their fiscal year which ran till the end of March of 2 million devices. They ended up selling way more, 2,74 million to be exact. In order to keep up with demand of consumers they even resorted to sending the consoles by plane to America and Europe. This upped their costs, maybe even costing them $40 per console.
In April, they returned to shipping devices by boat; so a longer waiting time again. I’ve bit the bullet and ordered myself a neon red/blue console. Even put down a down payment, and now there’s nothing more to do but wait!
MiiTomo celebrates 1 year
It’s been 1 year last March since MiiTomo was released on mobile. The first time Nintendo dipped into the waters of mobile gaming. To celebrate this they wanted to capture the entire year in one snapshot of Mii photos. People could enter their own photo, and this resulted in this mosaic. Cool!
Fire Emblem Echoes will like be the last 3DS game in the series
Pretty soon (May 19) we will be able to get the remake of Fire Emblem Gaiden, Fire Emblem Fates: Shadows of Valentia, here in the West. Producer Hitoshi Yamagami mentioned this in the latest issue of Dengeki Nintendo (June 2017). There will still be Fire Emblem Musou in Autumn, but that’s a action fighting game. (Thanks for the news, Japanese Nintendo!)
By the way, those who purchase the upcoming game at GameStop in America will get a special bonus. You’ll get the “Warring Gods” chrome print. Nice eh?
Pokémon Go Promo codes and Grass type mini event
Android users playing Pokémon Go seem to be in luck: Niantic added a feature in the Shop testing promo codes. They will allow you to redeem special items without having to pay for them, but as far as I know, no codes have appeared yet. Still, it would be nice to get an occasional free Lure Modules or Lucky Eggs. For now, all you can do is take a guess at a code, no news yet of it appearing in the iOS version. This is what you have to do:
- In the Map View, touch the Main Menu button.
- Touch Shop button.
- At the bottom of the screen, enter the promo code in the text field.
- Touch Redeem.
For both Android and iOS, a new mini event named Worldwide Bloom will be taking place in Pokemon GO starting tomorrow and ending on Monday, 8th May. Professor Willow apparently doesn’t have enough grass Pokémons to experiment on, or so it seems. His reports indicate that there will be an influx of Grass-types from the afternoon of May 5th till May 8. So go out there and find grass types for him. And meanwhile, you can generate enough grass type candy to evolve some of your precious Pokémon!
More screenplay for Hey Pikmin!
On July 28 we will get our hands on Hey Pikmin! The first Pikmin title on the 3DS, and even though it’s not an open world adventure like the console games are it does look good. The gameplay video shows us Captain Olimar tossing and recalling his Pikmin friends as they attempt to complete objectives in each area. Nice that the game uses two screens!
Fate/ Grand order for mobile this summer
Fate/Grand Order is a popular mobile game in Japan, based on the Fate/Stay night visual novel series. Recently the announcement was made on Twitter that the game would have an English release this Summer. It’s a free-to-play RPG with turn-based battles. The story is presented in a visual novel format, and in it, you take on the role of a Master and command a party of “familiars” known as Servants. There are 150 of them to meet in the game and each Servant has their own personal scenario which the player explores.
This is the storyline as found on Wikipedia.
In 2015, the final era where sorcery still exists, the Chaldea Security Organization, its numerous projects having guaranteed humanity’s existence through to the next century, discovers that the future they have observed no longer exists, and calculates that humanity will now go extinct in 2016. It traces the cause of this event to an anomaly that has appeared in 2004 in Fuyuki City. To avert the extinction of mankind, Chaldea decides to use its sixth experiment, time travel, converting its agents into spirit particles and sending them through time to destroy the space-time anomalies that will cause humanity’s extinction. The name of this mission: “Grand Order”, the name for those who would rise up against human history for the sake of humans, and fight fate itself.
Might be a nice experience, sort of a combo of visual novel and RPG. I’ll keep an eye on it.
That’s it for this week. I’ll keep travelling with Firis (I’m in Flussheim, trying to find me a ship) and I’m making good time. Thank you for reading, and a very happy gaming weekend!
Oh hey, nice, Fate/Grand Order’s coming to America! I’ve been a minor fan of the series since I played Fate/Extra, and I’m planning on checking out the anime/Visual Novel at some point. Good to know that the series has a following over here!
To be honest, I’d never heard of them before. But the trailer looks good, so I’m keeping my eye on it!
I put the release date of ‘Ever Oasis’ in my agenda, it seems to be right up my ally to!
Same here, Ronja! By the way, I gave Ecolibrium a try. Nice game, difficult to grasp though!
Yes, in the beginning i didn’t get there was a differece in your own ecosystems and the ecosystems for challenges.
The tutorial is a not very clear.
But one’s i got it its very adictive! Now, i have cleared al the challanges and have 4 ecosystems.
I like the fact you can’t just throw a couple of animals and plant in your ecosystem.
It’s a puzzel. Everything influences each other. Balance is the key!
You’re right, it is a puzzle. Pretty good visuals too, the way you can move your Vita around and see the ecosystem. How cool would this be in Virtual Reality!
I am getting really excited for Ever Oasis. Looks so fun!
Me too, I think it’s my most anticipated at the moment. It will be here soon!
I can’t wait! 🙂
