Handheld Gaming News week 22

Well hello there, come on in! It’s that time of the week again, time to enjoy our weekly cup of coffee. Or tea, if you want, of course. Time to chat about the Handheld Gaming News that stood out to me this week. Of course, the biggest news for many gamers was all about Pokémon! On top of that, it’s already the first of June. Pretty soon the E3 is here, so I think we are in for some more good games in the future.

I haven’t been able to play nearly as many games as I wanted to this week. Work in my real world has been super busy, even encroaching on my gaming. Usually I allow myself to game while I’m travelling to work in the train. This week I needed the time for work and site-business for LadiesGamers…but I hope better gaming times are coming!

Not one, but three new Pokémon games!

What a nice surprise this past week, when the Pokémon company announced three new games! There’s Let’s Go Eevee and Let’s Go Pikachu that will find their way to store shelves on November 16. And then there is Pokémon Quest, downloadable for free right away. Paige made an excellent report of what we can expect, you can find it here.

I did download the Pokémon Quest game, as did over one million other Switch gamers. It’s a weird little game, I’m not entirely sure yet if it’s going to be my cup of tea. For instance, I can’t really be bothered to man the buttons for fighting myself, I just leave it at auto. But it looks cute, it’s free although I guess you have to put some money in if you want to make the most of it.

Gusts’ Atelier series 20th anniversary

Gust is celebrating 20 years of Atelier games this year, and to do that they organised a poll to see which characters is the most popular. You can go here to pick your character, then hit the 確認 (Confirm) button below. There’s an email field for those who wish to enter for prizes, but it’s restricted to those living in Japan. However, anyone can vote on their character of choice without signing up with an email.

Once you’ve made your selection and hit confirm, it’ll prompt you to reconfirm your vote on a second screen, which you can do by hitting the red button on the right:

The poll will be available until June 13, 2018. Those who participate are greeted with a teaser for a new Atelier development that is expected to be revealed on June 14. (Thanks, Siliconera! )

First Professor Layton game comes to mobile

We’ve seen how well a Layton adventure can work on mobile, with the last one being, Layton Mystery Journey, released on mobile first and 3DS second. Now, Level 5 has announced the first ever Layton, Professor Layton and the Curious Village, is being remade for mobile.

It’s going to be called Professor Layton and the Curious Village EXHD. To be released in June in Japan and here’s a trailer to show you how its going to look.

Build-a-Bear Workshop ads Jigglypuff

We used to visit the Build-a-Bear workshop often, whenever we were in America. When my daughter was little, she adored them, which meant we did too. So whenever they release another game related ‘Bear’ I can’t resist sharing with you. This time, they added Jigglypuff, the adorable pink Pokémon. Makes for a nice collection by now!

LEGO DC Super-Villains is up next!

I already mentioned last week that they were teaser on the internet about the next Lego game. Now Warner Bros has finally confirmed that the next entry in the popular LEGO video game series is LEGO DC Super-Villains. It is coming to the Nintendo Switch on October 16th.

For the first time, a LEGO game is giving you the ability to play as a super-villain throughout the game, unleashing mischievous antics and wreak havoc in an action-packed, hilarious story written in collaboration with DC Comics. Set in an expansive, open world experience within the DC Universe, the Justice League has disappeared, leaving Earth’s protection to their counterparts from a parallel universe, who have proclaimed themselves as the ‘Justice Syndicate’.

Here’s the trailer for you to checkout:

Don’t you love this Hylian shield?

Usually I’m pretty imune to new models for the DS devices, but this one looks very, very good. This is the Hylian Shield edition 2DS XL, which comes pre-installed with the Legend of Zelda, a link between worlds. For now though, it’s a GameStop exclusive for America.

Well, my coffee cup is empty, did you finish yours? I guess that’s it again for this week. Thank you for reading, and have a happy gaming weekend!
