Handheld Gaming News week 7

Isn’t it crazy how quickly February seems to rush by? At least it means Spring is near too, with some good game releases and the Nintendo Switch of course! Not that I pre-ordered it, I mean to wait a bit to see if more good games are going to be released. Plus, I do believe the launch price is a bit stiff at EUR 349! Anyway, pull up a chair, grab a cup of coffee and let’s chat about handheld gaming news!

Professor Layton turns 10 (3DS)

On February 15 it was the tenth anniversary of Professor Layton. Ten years already…how well I remember the first game. The Curious Village was so different then any other game I knew and I remember the storm it created in the gaming world. I still feel there is no other gaming series in the same genre that comes close.

To commemorate ten years of the series, a new Professor Layton Twitter account has opened. Level-5 CEO Akihiro Hino also advised that Layton and his family will return, and to look out for Lady Layton games in the future.

New evolutions of Eevee in Pokémon Go (mobile)

With new Pokémon unlocked in Pokémon Go because we can now find critters from the Johto region too, we can also unlock two new evolutions of Eevee! First, you need to update your game to the latest version of course. This will unlock more Pokémon and some nice other extras, as I wrote in this article

If you want your Eevee to turn into an Espeon or a Umbreon you have to do the naming trick again. If you’d like an Espeon, name the Eevee “Sakura”, and if you’d like an Umbreon, name the Eevee “Tamao”.espeon umbreon

Extra Experience points in Fire Emblem Heroes update (mobile)

The latest update for Fire Emblem Heroes on mobile contains a nice bonus. Paralogue Quests have been added to the story maps, which should be nice for those of you that have finished the main story. What’s nice too is that from now through to February 22, 2017, players will get a bonus of x1.5 the rate of EXP. This applies to Story Maps, Training Tower, Special Maps, and the Arena and is a great way to level up your teams!

I published this guide for people who are new to this game, and have never played it on the DS. So if you know someone who is a FE Noob, point them this way to the article!

SINoAlice: new mobile game by Square Enix

Square Enix has announced SINoAlice, a new title for iOS and Android from writer and creative director Yoko Taro, known for the NieR and Drakengard series. It will launch in Japan in spring 2017. No news of a Western release, but I do think the game looks interesting.

Yoko Taro says he is developing a “unique and rich world” with an original story for SINoALICE. The story is about the tales that our mothers read to us when we were small. About beautiful princesses that were rescued by strong heroes. But it seems that these girls are still imprisoned in ” The Library”. It’s a place that’s bound by the story’s never-ending cycle, and the girls’ one wish is to resurrect the “author”. Sounds interesting!

Story of Seasons: Trio of Towns for 3DS is near !

Only a couple more days to go, the release of Story of Seasons: Trio of Towns is very close. Tuesday February 28 is the released ate for America, no news yet for the European release. Once again I’m thankful that I have an American 3DS as well to be able to join in the fun.

If you are looking forward to the dating part of the game, then maybe this little quiz, made by one of my readers, is a nice one. See which bachelor or bachelorette will be the one for you! Thanks for making the quiz, Madison!

New DLC for Harvest Moon: Skytree Village on 3DS

Are you having fun in Skytree Village, the last Harvest Moon game on the 3DS? If so, then you’ll be happy to know that 3 new DLC packs will be released next week and next month. There’s two new characters (more precisely a new Bachelor and Bachelorette), but also two new buildings.

  • Pack 1 contains new marriage candidate Edmond, and a statue of the Harvest Goddess
  • Pack 2: new marriage candidate Nova and a statue of the Doc
  • Pack 3: includes the Harvest Sprite Statue and Harvest Goddess’ Pergola (with the latter available in several colours). Those two new buildings will be added to your Insta-Building lists once download.

The price is $2.99 for each. I haven’t been able to let myself get totally enthused for the game, so I think I’ll pass for now. Will you be picking the packs up for that price?

That’s it for this week again, my friend. Did you finish your coffee?
Thank you for reading, hope to see you again next week. I wish you some happy gaming this weekend!
