Harvest Moon Tale of Two Towns re-released in Japan

An unexpected move on the part of Marvelous. Famitsu magazine (thanks for the tip, Japanesenintendo! has revealed that Marvelous will release an updated version of Harvest Moon: Tale of Two Towns in Japan. Bokujou Monogatari: Futago no Mura+ (as it’s called originally) for Nintendo 3DS will be available on 14 December.

We know only a few details about what’s the + to the game. Things have been touched up and the game should be more enjoyable to play overall. Streetpass is added so items can be traded with other players. Also, when you start the game you can choose between liking animals or fishing. StreetPass is also supported so that items can be traded between players.

Now I played the original on the DS and I would say it wouldn’t be my favourite to make an updated version. It was a good game, but tracking back and forth between the towns got a bit boring. Adding the Streetpass feature is good, it’s always a pity when online features aren’t included in a game.

It will be interesting to see if this updated version makes it west too. At the time where Tale of Two Towns was released, Natsume handled the localisation. They still own the brand name Harvest Moon, which is why new games in the original series are now called Story of Seasons. I guess that if it comes to the West too, it would be called Story of Seasons: Tale of Two Towns. But, time will tell!

    1. Well, it’s a bit complicated. But with in interest in what goes on behind the scene, and a good hosting provider who doesn’t mind answering your questions when you’re stuck, it’s do-able.
It is more costly, but you can tinker and adjust the site to your hearts content!

We love to hear from you!
