As someone who really, really liked House Flipper, I was super excited to get to play House Flipper 2. Much like the first one, House Flipper 2 allows you to buy homes, flip them, sell them, and complete quests to earn cash to buy even more homes.

House Flipper 2 versus House Flipper

House Flipper 2 A tree-lined street in a suburb.
They did a lot of work on making the surrounding area look very good in this game.

I put in about 150 hours into the first House Flipper, so at first, I found the new controls a little bit awkward. However, after about an hour of playing, I got used to all the new ways of painting, demolishing, building, and decorating. A significant amount of freedom has been added since House Flipper, including things like allowing you to change layouts of buildings, alter roofing, change the colors of wallpapers, and a lot more.

The new motions to paint, build, demolish, clean, vacuum, and everything else feel great; there is a lot of polish in how everything works and feels. The animations are better; there is much more to do at each house, and you get 24 quests to help you make money and learn how to play. I finished the story of House Flipper 2 in just a couple of hours, just like the original game, but the content keeps going long after the story is done.

House Flipper has a lot of DLCs, from luxury packages to adding pets. There was also free DLC that was added after the game was released in the form of holiday houses to clean and decorate, additional decorations, colors, and furniture.

After the bountiful amount of items in the original, it was a little bit disappointing to go back to only having a handful of things to decorate with; there were even whole sections of decorative items missing, like curtains, pet accessories, and even step ladders. That being said, the items available are all unique, new, and fun, but there seem to be gaps in what is currently available.

A list of items you can purchase in the game.
Many options exist, but not as many as in the original game.

The Gameplay of House Flipper 2

Anyone who hasn’t played the first game may wonder what the gameplay looks like in House Flipper 2. In the story mode, you get short little jobs that start with something simple, like cleaning and rearranging furniture, putting away boxes and unpacking, and some other chores.

They get more and more complex, adding things like knocking down walls, rebuilding walls, selling and buying new furniture, painting, wallpapering, and more.

A dirty floor is being cleaned by a towel.
Mess, mess, too much mess.

Once the job is done, the customer will pay you based on how much of the job you have completed. When you get enough money, you can purchase new homes and clean up to resell to make money.

You can spend as much time as you want decorating your homes or painting, building additions, and making your property worth as much as possible. Or not; there is a sell button that you can sell as soon as you’re no longer upside down with the building.

The Humor of House Flipper 2

House Flipper 2 is so goofy; just like the first one, there are funny little hidden squirrel statues called Bessies; there is an anime-style cartoon you can watch on TV where Bessie has a magical girl transformation.

Some of the items you can decorate with include a stuffed lobster, a statue of hamsters, and more little weird stuff. There is a lot of fun stuff in the first one, like houses that reference video games and movies; for example, there is an exact replica of the apartments from the Friends TV show.

Go, go, Bessie!

Scrub those windows!

House Flipper 2 is another solid addition to the line of up of weird, fun simulation titles. If you enjoy things like the original House FlipperPowerwash Simulator, and such, you’ll love this one. House Flipper 2 was polished, had great sound and good animations, and all the quests were fun. My biggest complaint is that the game was too short, and I’m really looking forward to any DLC that will be released to add more items to decorate with.

Final Verdict: Two Thumbs Up

  1. Great review! You clearly enjoyed House Flipper 2, especially with its improvements like better controls and more features. It’s neat how the game has fun stuff like Bessie statues and a Friends apartment. But I see why you felt it was short, especially after loving the first game so much. Hopefully, they’ll add more items soon.
