is THIS a game? is exactly the kind of weird title that seems like it was made for me. It’s filled with memes, weird jokes, and has the kind of sense of humor that I vibe with. So let’s dive a little deeper into the game itself to see what it’s all about.
What’s is THIS a game? Like to Play?
is THIS a game? is not really a game, but it kind of is? It is yet another question to be added to the philosophical arguments surrounding what qualifies as a video game and what does not. But instead of asking if a game has to be fun to be a video game, it asks if games need to require literally any skill or require really anything of the player to be a game.
Basically, every little mini-game inside the game can be won by clicking or clicking and holding. It’s the silliest game I’ve ever played, but it’s also really charming in an odd way.
Playing is THIS a game? feels a little bit like flipping through channels on a TV that still has cable. You get a hint of world, a flash of a show that is playing, but then you quickly move onto something else. Everything is obviously hand-drawn and designed to be as silly as possible, and that is appealing to me in a way made me laugh out loud and has me grinning every time I think about it.
A Very Specific Kind of Humor

There is a very specific kind of meme, millennial humor that makes up this very silly title that you either like or you don’t like. Basically, the key art will tell you everything you need to know. If you don’t get it, you probably won’t find this game as funny as I did.
Overall a Good Time
I love the way is THIS a game? looks and plays. Johannes Lott, who is a professional illustrator and wrote and illustrated this whole thing, is incredibly talented. It’s a very silly time, and it’s incredibly short; you can see everything there is to see in this game in about 15 minutes. If you want to laugh, or to make a friend laugh, is THIS a game? is a treat in my opinion. I think it could have more games in it; I like the artwork a lot and would love to see even more. I think Lott could probably keep adding new individual games into it in future updates if he wanted to make it even more fun.
Conclusion
If you know someone who likes memes and is in need of a little cheering up, I can’t recommend is THIS a game? enough to them. It’s short, sweet, silly, and worth the couple of bucks to support a great artist. Overall, a perfect gag gift game. I loved my time with is THIS a game? I think it continues to add new depth to what a video game can be.
