There is lots to do in this RPG/ Management App game by KEMCO, so let’s get started!

Staying alive by cooking

Patty’s Father was once the owner of a restaurant in the city but alas, the family has fallen on hard times. When Patty returns from her travels she discovers the family home has been taken by the bank to pay off some debts. Patty is a kind hearted girl. She decides to open a Tavern in the village of Cookoro to pay of the rest of the debts.

Patty plan is to make the tavern into a success by cooking wonderful dishes to sell in the Tavern to the local villagers. Oh and if all that wasn’t enough for Patty to cope with, the young brother has been possessed by CoCo the God of Poverty.

Here’s a look at the official trailer

Level up by eating: now that sounds familiar!

Together with a group of friends from the village Patty goes out to collect food. Dante, Erika or Elias and Varl are in your team. Together you can go to other places on the world map to collect food and items while having the odd battle with some monsters. Unlike other RPG’s your team doesn’t level up by earning experience from their battles but instead they level up by eating the food that Patty cooks in the tavern.Certain meals also raise your team status or resistance or increase your HP.

Battles are turn-based or you can tap the all attack button and your whole team attacks at once. There is also an auto button where the battles flow without your help, which can be a nice time saver. Of course this can be stopped by a press of the auto button. Battle commands work great and each team member has skills to bring into play.

Dungeons are spread over the world map and your team has to be a certain level to enter the dungeons. The RPG elements of the game flow well.

Gathering ingredients is key

You can make your own choices as to the dishes you serve. Make your tavern into a little café, or you could try to go for a fancy restaurant style. Serve simple set dishes, like rice balls and soup or sweets, like pancakes and parfaits. Or you could go upmarket by serving steaks and even dragon egg omelettes.

In the other Villages you visit there is usually a shop which supplies ingredients for cooking or clothing and weapons for you team. Ingredients are also dropped during battles.

There are more than 600 recipes to get and the more you cook and open the tavern to sell your dishes the higher the tavern level goes. This, in turn, helps refurbish the tavern. Recipes are collected through various ways. You can get them by chatting to other NPCs, they will give you the recipe itself, or a hint for where to find them.

Other ways to gather items are through fishing or by talking to George who looks after the garden for Patty. Of course you can find them too by visiting different areas on the world map.

A tavern trophy book in the menu section also rewards you with various items and ingredients for reaching certain goals. The menu section is well laid out and has everything that you would want in this style of game with a comprehensive “How to Play” section.

Conclusion

The game ran very smoothly and load times between area’s  and the world map are not to long. I didn’t have any crashes of the game while I was playing it on my IPad Pro.

Graphics are pleasant to look at, while the background music flows with the gameplay well.

If you’re a fan of RPG/ Management style gameplay this is a great game to try out, lots to do to while away the hours. And how you play it is up to you: take it easy, fish and get vegetables from the farm and meat from the livestock. No need to compete against other players. But you can also embrace the RPG part of the game.

I like this game and I’m off to get some more cooking done for my tavern.

I like it
