Meow Moments: Celebrating Together is another fun addition to the hidden object genre. At this point, finding Hidden Animals (well, mostly cats!) should be its own genre!
Premise
In a game like Meow Moments: Celebrating Together, there is little of a storyline. This game is not an exemption. Still, the scene where we look for cats is a lovely beach landscape with people, cats, and other critters celebrating New Year together. The art is beautiful and has plenty of Easter eggs to look out for.
The Gameplay of Meow Moments: Celebrating Together
In Meow Moments: Celebrating Together, we must find cats, people, and balloons. While the art is very clear and concise, finding everything is still plenty of challenge. Some of the objects are very cleverly hidden in plain sight. Should you get stuck, you can use one of the three on top of the screen: one for kittens, one for people and one for balloons. The hints are unlimited, too, so you only need to wait a few seconds for them to recharge. When you find something, it colors immediately. In the end, the whole picture is colored as well.
Within Meow Moments: Celebrating Together, besides the main level, we also have two upcoming DLCs – Valentine’s Day and a Mystery-themed one. They are unavailable, but once they are, they will be accessible through the main menu.
We can play around with a feature I have yet to see in other games in the genre: a levels editor. It’s once again accessible through the main menu. Once there, we can either play in other people’s creations and find cats, people, and objects or create our own levels. Should we choose the second option, we get the empty background of the main level with options to pick, desire, and arrange as we like all the objects from the game. Afterwards, we can save the level if we want.
Some Side Notes
There are basic settings like audio and video, language, and zoom inversion. Meow Moments has Steam achievements but no trading cards as of yet.
Conclusion
While Meow Moments itself, in the way it is now, has little replayability value, the fact that it is free more than makes up for it. Besides, the developers promise to add a lot more content shortly. What’s more, the level creator can also be used to create new levels and challenges. If the new DLCs keep the quality of the main game, Meow Moments has the potential to become a go-to hub for hidden object/ kitten games. In any case, it’s a game that is more than worth it for fans of the genre.
Final Verdict: Two Thumbs Up
