Upcoming Steam Games July 2023

Welcome! At LadiesGamers, we are all about indie games. So, aside from our Upcoming Switch Games, it’s time to look at Steam’s upcoming new release games. This one is for July 2023.

Not all games to be released are on the list here. Alternatively, you will see games that the other gaming sites don’t mention. We are taking notice of these games. You can expect reviews for many of them if given half a chance! It should be noted that unless we have some personal experience with the game, there’s a link to the descriptions on the Steam website.

Sergeant Squidley Space Cop -July 5th

The best cop in town has been murdered, and only one man can solve the case: Sergeant Squidley, Space Cop. Hastily promoted from traffic duty, Squidley must use all his Strength, Investigation, and Handiness as he travels around Moontropolis searching for evidence to solve the case.

But there are stronger forces than just the criminal underworld: an ex-wife who hates him, a young son to care for, and a dark secret held by pretty much everyone in town.

Lottie reviewed Sergeant Squidley, Space Cop and had this to say in her conclusion.

Sergeant Squidley: Space Cop is a game I can recommend to anyone who likes visual novels or detective games. Whilst not a long game, about 3 hours of playtime, many in-game options offer replayability. Not to mention a likeable cast of characters with plenty of charm. Pick up Sergeant Squidley: Space Cop here on Steam.

SUNSOFT’s NES classic Gimmick! Returns in this long-wished-for Special Edition from City Connection. Experience a stunning physics-based platformer with updated features like online leaderboards, achievements, a time attack mode, save and quick load, a rewind function, and a gorgeous gallery with cartridges, art, and scanned manuals.

Save the day as a star-shooting, platform-bouncing cutie pie in Gimmick! Special Edition. SUNSOFT’s beloved physics-based action platformer finally bursts onto current platforms enriched with a rewind feature, a time attack mode, online leaderboards, and modern extras.

James reviewed Gimmick! Special Edition and gave it a score of I like it a lot.

I’m always pleased to see any retro game get a second chance at life on modern systems. Since Gimmick! Special Edition really didn’t get much attention this is a great opportunity to hop on a retro gem. Gimmicks approach to 2D platforming feels fresh and different even all these years later. Its only barrier to entry is its tough difficulty which will not play well with some. Far from a gimmick, this is a gem well worth playing.

Atelier Marie Remake: The Alchemist of Salburg – July 13th

It’s not about saving the world. In this leisure adventure RPG, failing student Marie pursues alchemy, adventures, and quests while aiming to graduate in five years. Atelier Marie, the origin of the Atelier series, has been remade with new elements.

Yvonne reviewed Atelier Marie Remake: The Alchemist of Salburg on Switch and had this to say.

Nowadays, we are used to the grand adventures of Ryza and company, and you can’t escape the fact that Atelier Marie is a more basic game. It focuses less on battles and exploration, and there might come the point in those five years of gameplay when you really miss new things to explore or items to make.

What makes this game worth playing? Managing time and money, setting your Fairies to work as efficiently as possible and working with friends. It’s the events that add colour to the storyline and will keep you engaged to meet as many of the criteria as you can. Gust did a great job bringing us the Atelier Marie Remake. It gives new life to a 26-year-old title, bringing a new kind of gameplay to the table for gamers used to the later Atelier games.

Challenge perception, redefine reality, and reshape the world around you with an instant camera. Viewfinder is a new single-player game offering gamers hours of interesting and fun experiences while uncovering the mysteries left behind.

Mina reviewed Viewfinder and gave it our highest score of Two Thumbs Up.

Viewfinder is one of the most unique puzzle games out there right now. It feels like a Myst or a The Witness with its deep lore and beautifully-rendered world. It feels hopeful and lovely. It messes with your head like Echochrome. It feels gorgeous and real. The characters are charming, unique, and special. The puzzles are challenging and well done.

Each set of levels is distinct; each plays with the favourite kind of puzzles of the scientist that lived in it. The whole thing feels lived in, worked in, and loved. Overall, I cannot be happier with Viewfinder than I am. This game is a complete experience and one that I was very sad to see end. I am absolutely blown away by the game’s physics, how polished it is, and how well everything works together. In all honesty, I don’t think two thumbs up is enough.
