Time to sit down for another YvoCaro plays: as always, these are about the video games I’m playing. These thoughts just spring up in my mind, sometimes game related, sometimes they are not.
It’s only fair to warn you that spoilers might be ahead! And by the way, if you like these blurbs of gaming thoughts, you can find the previous ones here.
A voice that casts a spell on you
Yeah, I know. You might be thinking: not Civilization again! But bear with me. It’s what I’ve been playing most, so you could have guessed it would be in this YvoCaro Plays. I played it first on my iPad, waiting for my Switch game to arrive. But even before I had played the game at all I was spellbound. I mean, the visuals are stunning in the intro. And after that?
Enter Sean Bean who reads all the descriptions of the world leaders and other snippets of information. I’m a huge fan of Lord of the Rings, and I know Boromir’s speech at the council of Elrond by heart. Although Boromir was a bit of a troubled character in the movie (as Elrond said: “Men are weak…”) his voice made it all alright for me.
Ladies, just listen to this clip! And then tell me you don’t feel as if you want to help Robert the Bruce to victory!
Gaming together is the best
Over the years I’ve mentioned it before: playing video games is huge fun. The only thing that can making gaming ever more fun is gaming together with a friend.
I’ve written about the wonderful thing that makes internet friendships so strong. So if you are in the mood for some stories that touch the heart, you will find that article here.
I realised this again this week when ChamZen and I re-connected again over Civilization. We have known each other for many years now, and when Les was still alive she bound us together.
After Les died we did keep in touch, but not on a regular basis. It feels so good to chat daily again, to share our passion for a game and wake up to enthusiastic reports of progress made. So that’s why I want to state: playing games together with a friend is the best gaming there is! Don’t you agree?
