Announced in the Nintendo Direct, and with a new trailer showcased in the LEVEL-5 Vision 2026 II: Dreams, we finally have a date for Professor Layton and the New World of Steam.
Full Steam Ahead
After several delays, Professor Layton and the New World of Steam will release, not only on Nintendo Switch and Switch 2, but also on PlayStation 5 and PC (via Steam) on 10th December. This multiple platform release is a first for the Professor Layton series.
With over 200 puzzles, there’ll be a lot of head-scratching, as you help the Professor and Luke solve the abduction of Elida Allinston. With a phantom gunman and zombies, the setting of the American new world town of Steam Bison is sure to hold many more mysteries.

Also announced in the LEVEL-5 Vision 2026 II: Dreams presentation was a remake of Professor Layton and the Curious Village. The first game in the Professor Layton series will return in 2027 with high resolution, widescreen animations and enhanced exploration. Scheduled for release on Nintendo Switch & Switch 2, PlayStation 5 and PC (via Steam).
