Upcoming Steam Games March 2024

Welcome, it’s that time to look at the Upcoming Steam Games March 2024 that we have on our radar. But aside from our Upcoming Steam Games, if you play on Nintendo Switch, then we also have an Upcoming Switch Games article here.

Upcoming Steam Games March

Furthermore, not all games to be released are on the list here. Alternatively, you will see games that the other gaming sites don’t mention. We are taking notice of these games, and you can expect reviews for many of them if given half a chance! It should be noted that unless we have some personal experience with the game, there’s a link to the descriptions on the Steam website.

Quilts and Cats of Calico – March 5th

A sleeping orange cat on a quilt in front of the logo for Quilts and Cats of Calico.

Quilts & Cats of Calico is a cosy board game in which the player’s main task is to make a quilt from patterned fabric scraps. By smartly combining the colours and patterns of the scraps, the player can not only score points for the completed design but also sew on buttons and attract adorable cats, who have their own preferences for bedding patterns.

Mina gave us her thoughts on the demo of Quilts and Cats of Calico and said this:

Anyone who knows me knows I love cats. I love everything about them, and this comfy little game was appealing to me based on the fact that it was a cosy kitty game. But Quilts and Cats of Calico quickly made me realize that this wasn’t your everyday, average puzzler.

I’m super excited for the full release of Quilts and Cats of Calico! I have wishlist it on Steam and will probably be joining the Discord as well. I can’t wait to play with everyone I know!

FloraMancer Seeds and Spells – March 5th

Embark on an enchanting pixel-art adventure as the last Floramancer, fighting to protect your beloved forest from ruthless robots. FloraMancer is a captivating action and farming game that combines the magic of spell-growing with thrilling battles against deforestation.

Plant seeds, nurture your garden, and cultivate stunning pixel art flowers. Each plant has unique preferences, and growing them strategically will yield stronger and faster results. Protect your flowers from killer robots and the elements.

Valerie reviewed FloraMancer Seeds and Spells and said this in her conclusion:

There’s nothing wrong with FloraMancer: Seeds and Spells, and it certainly presents some interesting ideas. Beyond the magnificent art, though, I felt nothing I had to do was compelling. If you’re looking for a beautiful but small adventure and don’t mind relying on yourself for a feeling of progress, I recommend picking up FloraMancer: Seeds and Spells. If the farm element draws you, I doubt this is the game for you. I do look forward to seeing what this developer brings us in the future!

Berserk Boy – March 6th

Berserk Boy is a high-speed, action-packed platformer with Metroidvania elements. In the distant future, a mad scientist and his army of darkness seek to enslave the people of Earth. Hope for all humanity rests with The Resistance, but are they enough? Enter Kei, a rookie hero who is transformed by mysterious Orb energy into Berserk Boy.

With high-speed action and the power to defeat evil, Berserk Boy must face off against the diabolical Dr. Genos and his army of Dark Energy minions.

James reviewed Berserk Boy and said this in his conclusion:

Berserk Boy is slick and stylish platforming action. Considering a solo developer made this, this is an impressive achievement. It may take many pieces of inspiration from the retro greats, but it all comes together to make a great adventure.

For me it fell a little short with meaty health boss fights and its slow paced hunting the enemy segments. But when exploring and taking in the core levels I was having a blast. An addictive soundtrack and detailed pixel art style further helped this. I easily recommend Berserk Boy to any action-adventure fan, modern or retro. If Berserk Boy ever did want to venture into the realm of Saturday morning cartoons, I’d probably watch it.

Snufkin: Melody of Moominvalley – March 7th

Snufkin: Melody of Moominvalley is a story-rich musical adventure game about Snufkin restoring the valley and helping the quirky and memorable characters and critters who call it home. A series of hideous parks have cropped up in Moominvalley, disrupting the landscape and its harmonious nature. As Snufkin, you will distract police officers, pull out signs, and knock over misplaced statues as you vigorously try to restore nature and the inhabitants’ homes while putting an end to the industrious Park Keeper’s plans…

Experience a beautifully crafted and quintessentially Nordic game, brought to life with stories, emotions, and a melancholic atmosphere set in Tove Jansson’s vivid and beloved world of Moomin. You are invited to a wholesome experience for every age that combines open-world mechanics with puzzles, stealth, and melodic elements!

I reviewed Snufkin: Melody of Moominvalley and said this in my conclusion:

Overall, Snufkin Melody of Moominvalley offers a delightful and immersive journey tailor-made for fans of Moomin and anyone in search of a distinct gaming adventure. Although I did encounter a bug that halted my progress, it doesn’t overshadow the charm and creativity that Hyper Games has infused into this delightful exploration of Snufkin Melody of Moominvalley.

United Penguin Kingdom – March 7th

United Penguin Kingdom is a city-building game where you build a penguin settlement and satisfy the various needs of your penguins while dealing with seals and killer whales. Enjoy the growth of your settlement, become the king, and lead the United Penguin Kingdom.

I played the prologue of United Penguin Kingdom and said this:

I’m always looking for interesting survival city-building games with a different theme from just plonking houses down. United Penguin Kingdom Huddle Up is something different from the average city-building game. This free prologue version of the United Penguin Kingdom covers the content from one year of in-game time.

It’s a survival city-builder featuring penguins, where you build a settlement and satisfy their various needs. You’ll also have to deal with seals and killer whales and stop them from stealing the settlements’ food supply.

Summer House – March 8th

Summer House is a small-scale building game and a love letter to the feeling of long-lost summer afternoons. Craft a neighbourhood of tiny, beautiful, lived-in homes in a variety of settings: the sea, the city, or the mountains. While there are some little secrets to uncover, there are no rules, and you can’t win or lose. Just chill out, build to your heart’s content and soak up the atmosphere.

Yvonne built her own neighbourhood, and wrote this in her conclusion, giving the game Two Thumbs Up:

Playing SummerHouse, I am reminded that a game doesn’t have to be grand or intricate, nor does it need a deep storyline. In SummerHouse it’s just you with a set of pre-made elements with which you build a house. Or a castle. Or a hotel…or even Bagend. Your imagination is key when you get to work, building the little neighbourhood just like you envision it.

Stellar Settlers Space Base Builder – March 11th

Stellar Settlers is a space base/city builder and colony sim game. With unique vertical and horizontal base-building gameplay, take control of a settlement and build your own thriving colony on 5 hostile planets. Get enough materials to build a physics-based Spaceship and try to escape alien planets.

Every new planet is different, with a procedurally generated environment, ores, special events, new settlers, building pods and stories. Adapt your play style to mine and collect as much material as you can. When you are stable enough, start designing and building a physics-based spaceship (similar to the Kerbal Space Program) to escape the planet when environmental conditions get too harsh. Progress through different planets and visit them all.

Paula set about building her colony, and wrote this in her preview:

From what I have seen and played in the Early Access build, Stellar Settlers Space Base Builder is one to keep an eye on as it’s shaping up to be promising and a good addition to the genre.

Passing By – A Tailwind Journey – March 12th

Set in a beautiful and whimsical world of floating isles and a never-ceasing west wind, Passing By – A Tailwind Journey allows you to embark on a memorable voyage as Curly, a young balloonist who is tasked with delivering a mysterious letter.

In this innovative genre hybrid of a 2D puzzle platformer, survival game and adventure, you can explore the world at your own leisure, travelling from island to island by balloon ship and solving various puzzles while having to manage your resources in order to survive. An exciting adventure full of wholesome encounters and meaningful experiences awaits you!

We are not sure on how to rate the game. Margaret wrote in her conclusion:

Passing By: A Tailwind Journey retains its cohesive style and substance, and it runs beautifully on the Switch. Its quirks and issues will undoubtedly be no problem for some fans looking for a well-priced, lighter survival game that’s heavy on gathering cute collectables. However, I personally have trouble finding it as cozy as its sale copy suggests, with meters that are harsher than more action-forward survival/collection games like Core Keeper and puzzles that, while not difficult, are a pain to overcome with both the current control scheme and those meters at your heels.

Rebel Transmute – March 14th

In this modern Metroidvania, you play as Moon Mikono, a space scrapper turned adventurer on a mission to uncover the true fate of her missing mother.

To accomplish this mission in your own unique way, you’ll be swapping out game-changing augments to suit your play style. Aggressive and greedy? Inquisitive and cautious? Maybe you just want an army of friendly creatures! With over 50 unique upgrades, Rebel Transmute allows you to play through a classic sci-fi adventure in your style.

James liked the game when he reviewed it, writing in his conclusion:

Rebel Transmute is a good action adventure, but it’s not for everyone, including myself. The difficulty of this game is pretty harsh in the first half of this game, with fiddly platforming and touch-as-nails boss fights requiring quick reactions and patience to succeed. It’s a barrier of stress that won’t work for everyone. If you can make it through, there is plenty to like. Customizing your build with various augmentations provides flexibility to the gameplay, and once you have a huge map to explore, you will have multiple secrets to uncover. So, if you find most adventure games too easy, then consider this your next gaming project.

ENDER MAGNOLIA: Bloom in the mist – March 25th

Set in the Land of Fumes, this prosperous magical superpower is home to vast quantities of magical resources lurking underneath the surface. In hopes of advancing their kingdom’s development, artificial life forms known as Homunculi came into being. Regrettably, toxic Fumes from the underground drove the Homunculi to madness, turning them into feral monsters.

You play as Lilac, an “Attuner” who possesses the power to save the Homunculi. Upon waking, you find yourself in a laboratory deep in the underground. There, you will become acquainted with the Homunculi closely involved in the kingdom’s downfall. Together with the Homunculi, set out in search of your lost memories and precious friends in the Land of Fumes.

James reviewed the previous game, Ender Lilies Quietus of the Knights, and gave it our highest score:

Ender Lilies Quietus of the Knights is one of those games where, usually, this level of high difficulty would put me off and I would just walk away due to frustration. But I didn’t; some bosses took me multiple attempts to complete, and yes, I had to take breaks, but I kept getting drawn back to fight the darkness.

Maybe it was the delightful piano score, the light vs dark story arc or the smooth control system, but I just couldn’t help being drawn back in. I’ll admit I was not very good at the game, but this is a rare occasion where, despite my hardships, I have nothing but praise for this title. Not for everyone, but as the game seems to hint in the darkest of depths, there is always light. At least, that’s what I took from it.

Millennia – 26th March

Create your own nation in Millennia, a historical turn-based 4X game that challenges your strategic prowess across 10,000 years of history, from the dawn of humanity to our possible futures. Set the course of history and experience different timelines in every playthrough as you write an epic story through your actions. Lead your people through times of crisis and age of discovery, face great challenges and opportunities, and build a civilization that prospers through the ages.

I played the demo of Millennia and had this to say about it:

The demo for Millennia took me through 60 turns; while it did show me some of what the game has in store for us as players it obviously needs to be longer to show everything that Millennia will have on offer once it is released.

However, it is long enough to whet my appetite for what will come. I’ve played the demo many times over the last few days, and I’m excited for the full release of the game. I found the Millennia to be an incredibly refreshing strategy game when I played through the demo. The depth that will be on offer here is sure to please any long-time fan of this genre.

Distant Bloom – March 27th

"Promotional artwork for Distant Bloom featuring a central character with pink skin, a large, friendly eye, and wearing a futuristic suit. They are interacting with a glowing, exotic flower, with elements of mystical energy swirling around. In the background, shadowy figures and bioluminescent plants add a sense of mystery and adventure. The game's logo floats prominently at the top." Published on: LadiesGamers.

From a world in ruins to a world in bloom. This serene management game lets you explore an alien planet where things have gone amiss. Harness the power of plants to restore the environment and build a flourishing community with your crewmates.

After a long expedition through space, you and your crew land on an alien planet with the critical mission of establishing a new home for your species. But this place is very different from the vision you saw through your telescope.

I reviewed the game and gave it our highest rating of Two thumbs Up:

Distant Bloom has a lot of elements that attract me to a video game. Exploration, crafting, managing seeds and turning a barren landscape into a lush environment. Giving your crewmates little gifts ups their friendship levels. All of this is set against an unusual scene of an alien planet and an alien crew. The Assistant and KEi.Ki are busy bees and it’s very satisfying to make the sick planet, plants and animals healthy again, just by sowing seeds. Collecting strange-looking seeds that produce interesting plants adds an extra incentive to Distant Bloom, as well as unravelling the mystery.

Open Roads – March 28th

Long-lost family secrets. Hints of a hidden fortune. And miles to go before they sleep. Tess Devine’s relationship with her mom has never been easy, but they’re about to set out together on a journey into the past that they’ll never forget.

In Open Roads, Tess and Opal embark on a road trip adventure to explore a series of long-abandoned family properties, unearthing the past. They’ll search the ruins of these places that hold buried memories, things Opal has tried for years to forget. And in this search, they’ll discover not just the truth they’ve been seeking but each other.

Omega Crafter – March 29th

Promotional graphic for Omega Crafter, featuring a vibrant 3D animated landscape. In the foreground, a character with a yellow outfit and a digital face display smiles at the viewer. The background shows a whimsical village with various fantastical structures and tiny residents going about their activities. The Omega Crafter logo is prominently displayed in the center with a translucent design that blends with the colorful scenery. Published on: LadiesGamers.

Omega Crafter is an open-world survival craft game set in an underdeveloped game world that is being attacked by a mysterious program. Adventure, build a city, and challenge mighty enemies with Grammi, your programmable sidekick and friends in order to complete the development of the game by the release date.

Powerful monsters appear to be causing confusion and hindering the game’s development. Collect materials to craft powerful weapons and defeat these strong enemies! It looks like the Grammi will help too!

Kalina reviewed the game and gave it an I Like It:

Omega Crafter offers some exciting ideas for the genre. I liked the implementation of programming in the game, the idea of dismantling and moving the camp around, and the Grammis, but it could be smoother sailing. Programming should make your life easier, not make everything more complicated. Last year’s Mineko’s Night Market allowed our furry sidekick to look for resources by itself, so why not do the same here? It feels especially unnecessary to program the Grammi to collect stones only to have it pick them up and bring them to us at a close distance. Perhaps some of these points will be addressed going forward. Despite my misgivings, Omega Crafter deserves a chance, especially for playing with friends. I’ll also return to the world of Omega Crafter sometime again.

Intergalactic Pawn Shop – March

Intergalactic Pawn Shop is a single-player RPG trading simulation game. By day, you manage a pawn shop, and by night, you venture out on an adventure to discover the story of Kora, your home planet, its races, and your own destiny. The decisions you make will shape the story you’ll encounter.
