All Hail the Orb is a short and silly clicker game that sees you rebuild an old duck-ish cult from the ground up. Recruit loyal cultists, explore the dungeon, expand your flock of ducks, and all hail the orb!

Devotion Comes First

All Hail the Orb begins with you discovering the site of an old cult and promising a little creature to help free their Master from the magical glowing orb. The instructions are simple enough—just click on the orb to collect devotion. You can also just press and hold, but it’s a bit slower than rapidly clicking.

More devotion with each click, thank you!

Once you’ve accumulated enough devotion, you’ll be able to purchase your first upgrades to improve your resource generation abilities and explore new rooms in the dungeon, which unlock new resources and gameplay mechanics.

What’s a Cult Without Culists?

Fairly early on in the game, you will unlock the summoning chambers, where you can summon cultists to come and work for you. You can personally drag each cultist to a workstation, or you can assign them to a location via the cultist management window. Unfortunately, I found the cultist AI to be fairly lacklustre, so I had to micromanage my followers to prevent them from idling about the dungeon while there were open work stations.

At the beginning, all of your cultists will be jack of all trades generalists, so they’re fairly average at whatever task you assign them to. Eventually, you will be able to reclass them into more specialized roles, such as bookworms, who are better at accumulating knowledge, and miners, who are better at collecting ores. Each cultist’s individual personality can also be modified, which, for example, can impact their stamina or channelling abilities.

Gotta collect all of the duck collective.

During your journey, you aren’t just limited to your humanoid cultists. Eventually, you will also be able to summon collectable ducks, which provide different bonuses to the rooms they are assigned. Your duck friends also vary in their power levels and can be combined to create higher rarity ducks.

Expanding the Dungeon

The gameplay loop in All Hail the Orb essentially consists of gathering materials, feeding the obelisk, and unlocking new rooms, which unlock new resources and gameplay features. I found this progression system to be simple and satisfying as I worked alongside my fellow cult members and ducks to free the old master from the orb. While the original focus was devotion, the obelisk soon hungered for life essence, knowledge, and duckite ore as well!

All Hail the Orb: as the game map gets bigger, the fast travel bar becomes more useful
Thank duck for fast travel!

As more rooms are unlocked and the dungeon expands, navigating around the different rooms becomes a bit more of a hassle, especially if you’re dragging a cultist from one end of the map to the other. Fortunately, you can use shortcuts to take you directly to specific areas.

Conclusion

Overall, I enjoyed the six hours I spent in All Hail the Orb, clicking my way to becoming the best duck cult. While this game can be played as an idler once you unlock the automation upgrades, I still preferred to play it more actively so I could keep track of my cultists and their unsanctioned break times.

Final Verdict: I Like it a Lot. I like it a lot
