The Gameplay of Clutter 18: Joe’s Ultimate Challenge – Collector’s Edition

Clutter 18 has variations of the same puzzle- pairing a matching set of objects. The game boasts over 1800 puzzles and randomly generated levels, which means endless replayability. Each level has a timer and several pairs available. Not all objects on the board have a matching one. If one gets stuck on a level, it can be skipped. Besides that, from the main menu, you can access “Contents” and choose a type of puzzle and level, but only after we complete the first 5 levels of the main quest.

Every few levels, we get a new type of puzzle for variety—it can be sliders, reassembling a sliced-up picture, or a mahjong-style puzzle with tiles.

I really liked that you can skip levels because I found the slider levels—where we restore a sliced-up picture —quite difficult. The other types of puzzles, however, are very addictive. It is easy to spend way too much time going through the levels without realizing how much time has passed.

I’ve only played the previous game in the series, and like that one, at first glance, everything looks very busy, and well, cluttered. The pile of objects looks overwhelming, but there’s something very satisfying in finding pairs and slowly but surely clearing the board. On top of that, the soundtrack is varied and well-suited to each puzzle. So, all in all, it’s a very satisfying puzzle adventure, especially if you don’t have a lot of time for gaming.

Instructions on how to play each game are provided at the beginning of each level and in the main menu. For now, the game doesn’t have Steam achievements or trading cards, and the options are quite limited to sounds and graphics.

Conclusion

Clutter 18: Joe’s Ultimate Challenge – Collector’s Edition is a very pleasant puzzle game. It doesn’t look as polished as some of its competitors, but it still delivers a great gaming experience, whether you are a die-hard fan of the puzzle genre or a casual gamer looking for a quick puzzle game while on a break.
