Twinkleby is a 2025 cozy simulation and decorating game, developed and released by Might and Delight.

Premise

Twinkleby is a cozy decoration game, where we map out an archipelago of floating islands and build a diorama for a society of spacefaring people. As we progress in the game, we unlock more parts of the map, expand our collection of furniture and decorations, discover antique secrets, and when we change our mind, evict everyone and throw their furniture into space.

The Gameplay of Twinkleby

In Twinkleby, we decorate a series of floating islands with the furniture and decorations we’ve unlocked thus far. Each island has its own setup, climate, and conditions to be met. We have at least one house to place on the island, and then furniture and decorations. Each island has its own lantern, which, if lit, will signal to our spacefaring neighbors that there is an island nearby. At some point during the decorating, a floating boat, carrying a new inhabitant, will arrive to claim their new home. If they are happy, they will sing a happy tune for us and gift us something nice to use in our designs. We can also turn off the lantern, but that means no visiting neighbors.

If we wish to evict inhabitants, we can throw off their luggage, and they will leave as well.

Each neighbor has its own traits and conditions that we need to meet to make them happy. We can also meet rare neighbors, who have different, usually more challenging conditions to meet, but once met, they also reward us with greater benefits. Besides stellars, our neighbors can gift us with furniture and decoration items, and even map fragments.

Another way to acquire more items is to purchase them from the shop or get an occasional freebie gift, literally falling from the sky. And speaking of shops, the in-game currency is Stellars, which we obtain during the game as presents and as randomly falling stars, which we must catch. Collecting stellars also unlocks other islands.

We can browse our items in the inventory and place them as we wish on the islands. If we want to return something to the inventory, all we need to do is throw it over the edge of the island. Some items have different colors and variations to unlock.

As the game progresses, we also gain control over the weather and unlock different backgrounds and seasons for our dioramas. We can also change the time of day and the soundtrack.

Sometimes we might get a falling chest with some extra Stellars or a new item to decorate with. Those chests are usually locked, but we can purchase keys at the shop or discover them throughout the archipelago. The bigger the chest, the bigger the reward.

As we delve deeper into space, we can explore parallel islands – new, clean-slate versions of the islands we’ve already discovered and decorated. We can also take pictures of our creations in photo mode.

Some Other Things

Twinkleby has basic audio and video options, as well as camera and language settings. The game features Steam achievements, but does not yet support Trading Cards.

Conclusion

Twinkleby is a charming and relaxing decorating game that invites players to explore their creativity without the pressure of timers or expectations. In this whimsical world, we can design and decorate picturesque, dreamy floating islands to our heart’s content. The game allows for endless customization, offering a variety of decorations, landscapes, and themes to choose from.

If you are in the mood for a cute decorating game, you should try Twinkleby – you will probably love it.
