Tukoni: Forest Keepers is a 2026 adventure game developed by Dream Operator and released by Dream Operator and Gamersky Games.

The Premise of Tukoni: Forest Keepers

In Tukoni: Forest Keepers, we play as Traveler, a forest spirit, who embarks on a journey to help the forest prepare for the coming winter. While wandering, we will explore magical hand-drawn locations, meet charming characters, solve handcrafted puzzles, forage for herbs, and collect and prepare tea recipes. Tukoni: Forest Keepers is a vibrant cozy puzzle adventure made in collaboration with the Ukrainian artist Oksana Bula, author and illustrator of the Tukoni books.

The Gameplay

Tukoni: Forest Keepers is a classic point-and-click adventure if you choose to play with a mouse, but it also supports controllers, which is the recommended way to play. I did stick with the mouse/ keyboard combination; I am just not comfortable with a gamepad yet (if ever).

We start in the Month of the Mushroom, while final preparations for the coming winter are underway. Some animals will be sleeping through the winter, but others will need to get ready. Playing as Tukoni, we will meet about 20 forest animals and help them finish their autumn tasks, while getting to know them.

We’ll collect clues, arrange objects, look for keys, and gather supplies and ingredients. Of course, an essential part of every autumnal adventure is making tea, and here in Tukoni: Forest Keepers, it is key to building relationships with the forest inhabitants. We will meet Tea Tukoni, the tea expert of the forest, and if we master the art of brewing a truly exceptional cup of tea, we might earn our own Tea Ceremony Box. As we wander through the forest, we will discover over a dozen new recipes, gather herbs, and prepare different brews for the new friends we will meet. To aid us, we will have our trusty backpack to carry anything we need and a moss-covered notebook to fill with sketches and memories of our journey.

We have puzzles and mini-games, but overall the game encourages exploration. We have four hand-drawn locations, each filled with tiny homes, hidden paths, and many details. One of my favorite features was the so-called cozy spots, where Traveler can settle in, pause the adventure, and we will just take a moment or a few to enjoy the sights and sounds of nature. Each spot is naturally picturesque- by a little river, underneath the autumnal trees, on a little bench, and so on.

The World of Tukoni: Forest Keepers

The world of Tukoni is vibrantly colorful, full of charm and heart, where forest spirits live alongside animals. Some Tukoni take care of the trees, and others watch over the changing seasons from the Heart of the Forest. Our Tukoni is tasked with preparing the forest for winter, which means Tukoni: Forest Keepers is the perfect cozy, autumnal game. The game is ridiculously pretty, and for me personally, almost every frame was a perfect wallpaper for my desktop. I really loved the imaginative way of life in the forest and the way the story and dialogue are shown through simple drawings, much like something from a child’s imagination.

The artists of the game, Oksana Bula and Kateryna Ustymenko, have created a gorgeous digital artbook, containing concept art, sketches, characters, stories, and notes about the world of Tukoni. It will be available for purchase when the game is released on the 17th of August.

Some Other Things

Tukoni: Forest Keepers has all the usual audio and video settings. The game has Steam achievements, but no Trading cards yet. You can also try the prologue of the game here.

Conclusion

Tukoni: Forest Keepers is a gentle and yet vibrant autumnal adventure, perfect for the upcoming autumnal months. It is a game about preparing for winter that will seamlessly fit into my own preparations.

Final Verdict: Two Thumbs UpTwo thumbs up
