If you’re looking for a relaxing new game to try, Garden and a Goat will have a Steam Next Fest demo out this June. Inspired by the much-loved life sim Viva Piñata, this adorable ecosystem restoration game lets you help nature thrive again — one small step at a time. The demo will give you the chance to experience the core gameplay and explore its colourful world before the game officially launches.
Restore Worlds as a Helpful Robot
In Garden and a Goat, you play as a friendly robot tasked with bringing life back to struggling extraterrestrial ecosystems. Each biome needs your care, and you’ll:
- Clean up debris to make areas habitable again
- Complete mini-games to restore balance
- Plant seeds to encourage new growth
- Attract wildlife back into the environment
As you nurture each area, you’ll see nature slowly return, creating a satisfying sense of progress.

Meet New and Quirky Animals
One of the highlights the demo will be the introduction of new animals and unique variants. Among them is a “spicy racoon” with a surprising love for chilli peppers.
You’ll be able to interact with the animals you attract, giving them treats and pets to build their affection. Watching your garden come to life with these creatures is a big part of the charm.
A Cosy Experience to Look Forward To
Garden and a Goat focuses on gentle, feel-good gameplay, making it an easy choice if you enjoy cosy, creative experiences. SooziQ play-tested the game, and wrote down her impressions for LadiesGamers. She highlighted its relaxing loop of caring for environments and discovering new creatures, showing how it blends exploration with light management.
