Agatha Christie – Murder on the Orient Express
Step on board the legendary Orient Express and immerse yourself in the most famous detective suit in a race against the clock to unmask the murderer.
Not only did Kalina give Agatha Christie – Murder on the Orient Express our top rating, it also featured in her Best Games of 2023. However, if you’re not sure you’d enjoy playing detective, download the demo.
Having played the previous Hercule Poirot games, including the ancient ones, I can tell you that this one, Agatha Christie – Murder on the Orient Express, is by far my favourite. With the weather turning cold, staying home with tea, books, and video games seems like a natural conclusion, and what better way to start the season than with Agatha Christie – Murder on the Orient Express. I can only hope that Microids gives us a sequel.

Alba: A Wildlife Adventure
Small actions can make a big difference.
Alba: A Wildlife Adventure captured Paula’s heart:
Alba: A Wildlife Adventure is a heartwarming tale of being kind and looking out for others and the world around you. A game that isn’t afraid to challenge our perceptions, with its message of conservation and how we can impact the world for the better.
All of that is wrapped up in a sweet and cute style with a strong and enjoyable memorable story and relaxing music that you will lose yourself in. It makes it a perfect family-oriented game that everyone from the youngest to the oldest will enjoy and discover that small actions can make a huge difference in the world around us!

Immortals: Fenyx Rising
Immortals Fenyx Rising™ brings grand mythological adventure to life.
Testing her knowledge of Greek mythology, Paula gave Immortals: Fenyx Rising our highest rating.
Immortals: Fenyx Rising is an excellent adventure offering lots of challenges and many puzzles to complete. It has a unique take on the RPG adventure genre, with enough style and humour to set it apart from any other take on Greek mythology with a fun retelling of classic mythology.
I’ve roped Yvonne in to play the game as well promising her an epic adventure and lots of exploring. It’s no secret she is no ace at fighting, but you can play Immortals: Fenyx Rising on different difficulty levels, so that doesn’t have to be a problem! It’s obvious Ubisoft Quebec had a ton of fun making up the puzzles and situations in the game and it’s clear that they drew a lot of inspiration from the Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.
If you like the open world, adventure genre then Immortals: Fenyx Rising could be just the game for you I’m off to do some more exploring!
There is a free demo available, so you can try before you buy! Paula also created a guide to the Golden Isles.

Paper Trail
A puzzle adventure set in a foldable, paper world.
No tears in our paper when we reviewed Paper Trail:
Paper Trail is an absolutely enchanting game that is bursting at the seams with charm and whimsy. While the concept may not be entirely new, the gameplay and delightful characters truly steal the show in Paper Trail. The innovative use of origami to manipulate the environment and unlock hidden pathways is simply genius.

Röki
Every dark fairytale has its monster.
Paula immersed herself in Scandinavian folklore with Röki
It is obvious from playing Röki that developers Polygon Treehouse want you to enjoy the puzzles and adventuring gameplay. However, it’s done in such a way as not to distract you from the story.
A story is full of Scandinavian folklore intertwined with a tale of a broken family being held together by Tove’s determination, courage and spirit. All of which transforms the experience into something lasting and memorable for the player.

TOEM
A photo adventure
TOEM clicked with Mina
I love this game. I love TOEM so much. It’s sweet, adorable, funny and full of fun and interesting NPCs to meet and take photos of. The world may be in black and white, but it’s lovingly detailed and wonderfully rendered. The music is wonderful and there are a lot of thoughtful details to make players love it even more. Two thumbs up for TOEM!

Alekon
Photograph dozens of whimsical creatures, using magical tools to get them to strike collectable poses!
Yvonne got snapping in Alekon
Alekon was a surprising game for me. I didn’t know what the game would be like playing a photography game, as it’s my first one. Exploring Alekon is lovely. I enjoyed finding new Fictions, or new poses for Fictions I already had in Dream’s Doorstep. The mini-games are imaginative and fun if you are into them.
The quests often made me smile. For example, who thinks of a quest for you to translate an application to join Captain’s crew in pirate speak? Alekon is a fresh uptake on a photography game, with great text writing and lots of humour.

Archaica: The Path of Light
Manipulate artifacts from an ancient civilization to solve challenging puzzles.
Paula became the light bearer in Archaica: The Path of Light
The world of Archaica: The Path of Light is a gorgeous and remarkable place using simple mechanics involving beams of light and mirrors that is brilliantly done.
You’ll need your spatial awareness and problem solving skills to be on form and working well to solve the puzzles. I never felt frustrated with the puzzles; between having the hints available to use, and no timer, you’re free to move the mirrors and splitters around the level at your own pace.Adding in new challenges and new concepts as the game progresses, the game always has something fresh ahead for the player. This stops the repetitive nature of some games settling in, and turns an otherwise simple premise into quite the detailed challenge.
If you a big fan of puzzle games, I would recommend Archaica: The Path of Light take a spot on your Nintendo Switch.

Dolphin Spirit – Ocean Mission
Explore the island of Maupiroa and discover its deep-sea secrets!
I helped clean up in Dolphin Spirit – Ocean Mission
Dolphin Spirit – Ocean Mission navigates the right balance between being an enjoyable game and explaining real-life ecological hazards. The accompanying music is beautiful and enhances the experience. I learnt quite a bit from my ocean adventure. So dive in, splash around and see what you discover.

Hogwarts Legacy
Hogwarts Legacy is an open-world action RPG set in the world introduced in the Harry Potter books. Explore and discover magical beasts, customize your character and craft potions, master spell casting, upgrade talents and become the wizard you want to be.
Hogwarts Legacy cast a spell on Paula
Overall, if you are a keen fan of the Harry Potter universe, you will likely enjoy Hogwarts Legacy on the Nintendo Switch. What I like the most is walking around Hogwarts, watching students and seeing the talking, moving pictures and bumping into ghosts. As you pass by, some NPCs will throw a couple of phrases in your direction or play a piece of music; this makes the world feel alive.
It’s a huge world with more to offer as you go. It also shows how much effort, dedication and passion Avalanche Software put into the game. Hogwarts Legacy is a labour of love in every detail.

Hungry Meem
Together with the Meems, you can rewrite destiny and spin it into a happily ever after!
I sat down to eat with the Hungry Meem
I adore the art style of Hungry Meem, it’s vibrant, and whimsical. The concept of the game is great, and there is clearly a lot of passion in how the game has been developed.
The bombardment of instructions gets less as you progress through the game, making Hungry Meem flow better and more pleasant to play.

Mousecraft
Ever wondered what a cross between Tetris and Lemmings would look like?
Paula went looking for the cheese in Mousecraft
Mousecraft presents itself in a lovely polished package, under the ever watchful eyes of Schrödinger the cat who adds some character and humor to the game.
Mousecraft has addicting gameplay that gives you a sense of satisfaction once the mice make it safely to the block of cheese. You’ll not find anything new or mind blowing in the game but you will find a charming and entertaining puzzle game which fits the Nintendo Switch purrfectly!!

Ni no Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch
Take the Other World with You
Yvonne helped Oliver in Ni no Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch
The music (a beautiful soundtrack co-composed by Joe Hisaishi) is ace, and only adds to the emotional journey you take with Oliver and Drippy. The story is voice acted during the cut scenes, making the characters all the more dear. Like Drippy, who’s Welsh accent is so sweet!
The story is one of the ace features of the game. On top of being a thrilling tale, they also put a lot of humour in the game. In the way the characters and familiars act and in the repartee. I’ve found myself fondly smiling more than once.

Winds of Change
Experience the Ultimate Furry Tale
Paula liked Winds of Change a lot, concluding
Winds of Change is a lengthy visual novel with hours upon hours of playtime. At times I did feel that it was maybe a bit too long, though I think that will depend on how well you gel with the storyline. While the story is enjoyable and quite interesting, I felt that too much time is spent on managing minor friendships in the game, which feels like a filler to me.
If adventure, visual novels with furries are your jam, then you will more than likely find what you are looking for in Winds of Change.
