The Premise of Tidy Up the Flower Shop
In Tidy Up the Flower Shop, we play as a new owner of a flower shop, and the grand opening is tomorrow. Our niece has tried to be helpful and has helpfully unpacked the entire delivery onto the floor. Our job is to pick up the flowers an armful at a time, sort them by species into the baskets, change their colors (if we want to), and get the place ready by morning.

Gameplay
Tidy Up the Flower Shop is another game in the popular tidying-up genre of cozy games. We’ve done all sorts of tidying up until now- we’ve picked leaves and trash and books, but here our objective is flowers, a little more than 3000 of them. The game has no timers and no quotas to complete. We also have just one upgrade to increase the number of flowers we can carry, and to unlock it, we just have to take a good look around the shop and maybe clear the flowers from any surfaces first. Some little notes lying around help build a minimal storyline, and they’re a nice touch.
The gameplay is simplified to picking up flowers and putting them in baskets. We can circle through all the flowers we’ve picked, and we can drop flowers onto the floor. So, we can do whatever we like – picking up only specific flowers or everything in sight and then sorting them into several baskets. If we put a flower in the wrong basket, we’ll get a warning, and the basket will turn red. We can also take all the wrong flowers from a basket if there are several. We can change the colors of the flowers once we’ve picked them up or while they are already in the basket.

As for the flowers, once a flower is in our hand, we get its name and a little picture, so we can orient ourselves more easily. There’s also a map of the baskets’ positions in the shop on the counter.
Visually, Tidy Up the Flower Shop is one of the best-looking games in the genre I’ve seen in a long time. The colors are soft, the light coming from the windows is beautiful, and the shop itself is very cozy. The music is also very pleasant. Really, I wouldn’t have minded sorting a couple of thousand more flowers. I’ve seen that the developer has another tidying-up game coming soon, and I will probably get it as well.

Some Other Things
One thing to note is that the developer is continuing to upgrade and patch the game by monitoring reviews. The game didn’t include flower names at release, which made sorting a bit more challenging. Some users complained about that, and the developer released a patch to address it. That alone is a very positive sign of the developer’s future involvement with the game. In terms of settings, Tidy Up the Flower Shop has the usual video and audio options, plus the ability to turn off motion blur and an unstuck button. I didn’t encounter any bugs or stuttering during my gameplay. The game has Steam achievements, but no Trading cards yet.
Conclusion
Tidy Up the Flower Shop was a very pleasant surprise for me, and I happily spent a couple of hours sorting flowers and looking at every nook and cranny in the shop. As the weather turns colder now, Tidy Up the Flower Shop might just be the spot of warmth and color you need right now.
