Finnish solo developer Hugimugi has announced that their cosy incremental farming sim Quackyard will launch on Steam this November. In this wholesome adventure, players help a duck named Quacky transform a cluttered backyard into the perfect spot for hosting a tea party with friends.
A Relaxing Farming Adventure
At its heart, Quackyard is all about taking things at your own pace. There are no time-based events, deadlines, or penalties to worry about. Instead, players can enjoy a laid-back gameplay loop centred on farming, digging, crafting, and decorating.
Quacky’s backyard starts out filled with junk, rubble, and boulders. By clearing away obstacles and expanding the available space, players can gradually turn the area into a welcoming garden ready for a cosy gathering.
Grow Crops, Craft Better Tools and Automate Tasks
Farming plays a major role in Quackyard. Players can sow seeds and improve the soil using items such as fertilisers to increase resource production. Once crops have matured, they can either be harvested for materials or left in place as decorative additions to the garden.
The resources gathered through farming and excavation can then be used to unlock new crafting opportunities.
As players progress, they will gain access to a growing collection of resources that can be used to craft upgraded tools and equipment. These upgrades improve farming, cleaning, and overall resource production, helping players become even more efficient.
For those who enjoy incremental gameplay systems, Quackyard also includes automation mechanics. Various creatures can be summoned to work on tasks, allowing the garden to continue developing even while players focus on other activities.
A Desktop Companion Experience
One of Quackyard’s standout features is its Desktop Companion Mode. This option allows the game to run in a corner of your screen while you work, browse, or carry out other tasks on your computer, making it an appealing choice for fans of idle and incremental games.
