Life is expensive enough as it is…so when there’s a chance to play free video games, I’m all for it! So let’s play some more fun games that won’t break the bank, this time with Milo and the Christmas Gift and The Mr. Rabbit Magic Show! Here are two totally free games for your enjoyment! And be sure to check out our other articles with two free games, too!
Fun Games that Won’t Break the Bank: Milo and the Christmas Gift

Milo and the Christmas Gift is a totally free, short but sweet game which centres around Milo the cat and Toby the pet rabbit. This game was generously given to us by the developer Johan Scherft and publisher Second Maze. It’s available on Steam.
The Main Storyline – Sweet and Simple
Milo the cat also starred in the equally lovely game Milo and the Magpies by the same developer, which is not a free game. Both games are traditional point-and-click games with some puzzle elements, and both games are standalone. No need to have played Milo and the Magpies to enjoy Milo and the Christmas Gift. In this game, Milo’s owner is given a pet rabbit named Toby for Christmas. Toby gets out of the house, and Milo spends the rest of the game trying to rescue him and bring him home.

About The Beautiful Artwork – All Hand-Painted
Johan is a very talented artist, and all the scenery was lovingly hand-painted by him. The game also features a beautiful and atmospheric soundtrack composed by Victor Butzelaar.

My Impressions of Milo and the Christmas Gift
Milo and the Christmas Gifts is presented to us in 5 different short chapters, which break up the gameplay nicely. I played with some friends. Together, we solved most of the puzzles and quests, but I admit a few were not intuitive, and we had to look at a walkthrough. That’s ok with us, the game was lovely enough that the positives definitely outweighed the few harder puzzles.

The developer says the game should take 15-30 minutes to play. It took us just a little more time than that. I don’t want to give away too much of the story; I’d rather let you explore this beautiful wintry world yourself. So I will close by encouraging you to enjoy this lovely and totally free game, Milo and the Christmas Gifts, this winter!

Fun Games that Won’t Break the Bank: The Mr Rabbit Magic Show

For their 10th anniversary, the talented people at Rusty Lake have created The Mr Rabbit Magic Show as a gift to us. Wonderful!! In the past 10 years, they have developed a whole series of interconnected, inventive and extremely unusual games. They usually contain the same cast of characters, locations and often revolve around a “corrupted soul”. However, they are all standalone games. Knowing the characters and locations from other games is kind of like an insider joke for those of us who play their games.
I have played just about all the Rusty Lake games and enjoyed them. I do need to say that there is simulated violence as part of some of the games (not this game), so they may not be appropriate for young children or sensitive individuals. I can get past this because the stories are so quirky and unique. The games are all point-and-click games and play a lot like escape room games. The world of Rusty Lake is self-described as eerie and surrealistic. It’s true!! The developers have created an entire universe, though, full of repeating characters and locations that we, as players, come to know. It’s quite an accomplishment.
The Mr Rabbit Magic Show is initially presented to us in Acts, twenty of them to be exact! Each act is a complete standalone puzzle with Mr Rabbit on stage performing some sort of magic trick. I played with friends. Some of the puzzles were pretty easy, but some of them really left us scratching our heads! After some thought, experimentation and maybe a peek at a walkthrough, we solved them.

After the 10th Act, things started to get strange! There’s a seemingly ominous glitch in the game, but it goes away, and we are back to the 11th Act. Odd…..After Act 12, there is another glitch and boom – we are humans, specifically, we all work in the offices of Rusty Lake, developing games!!
The Mr Rabbit Magic Show has morphed into an escape room-type game with some short fetch quests and some really cool puzzles.

One of the puzzles gives us the code to put into our “developer’s” laptop and then boom – we are back to the Magic Act again!! We get to play some more cool levels of puzzles with Mr Rabbit, which are still standalone. During the 20th Act, our magician friend disappears and boom – that’s the end of the stage show. We are game developers at the Rusty Lake offices once again!

We do some more puzzles and fetch quests in the office, and then all of us gather for a party to celebrate the 10th Anniversary of the Rusty Lake game series. And….there’s a surprise ending featuring Mr Rabbit!
After you play the game, there is a 10-minute live-action film on Steam called The Intern. It was actually filmed in the Rusty Lake office, which is the same as the one depicted in the game! Super fun! So many free gifts were given to us.

It took us over 2 ½ hours to complete this crazy, totally free game, The Mr Rabbit Magic Show! There’s an optional DLC download ($2.99 USD) for gamers who want more!! I predict that once you’ve played this Rusty Lake game, you will want to play more of their games. There’s really nothing like them.
