A Tiny Sticker Tale

Title of A Tiny Sticker Tale with a donkey carrying a sticker book and various stickers, including that of trees, crab and the sun. Published on: LadiesGamers

A Tiny Sticker Tale is a cozy miniature adventure about changing the world, using the power of stickers!

There was no gooey mess with these stickers, and I gave it our highest rating:

A Tiny Sticker Tale is one of the most adorable games I’ve played this year. The graphics are bold and colourful, removing and placing stickers is good fun, and the quests are satisfying.
Designed to be a short adventure, A Tiny Sticker Tale packs a lot in and definitely a game to get stuck into!

Blanc

Promotional artwork for Blanc, with a white fawn and black wolf cub in a snowy scene. Published on LadiesGamers

Blanc is an artistic cooperative adventure that follows the journey of a wolf cub and a fawn stranded in a vast, snowy wilderness.

I was blown away when I reviewed Blanc:

There isn’t a huge amount of gameplay in Blanc, but what you get is an incredible, emotional journey about friendship. This two-player game transports you to a wintry landscape and immerses you in a heartwarming adventure. The graphics and music work in harmony to create a truly delightful game.

Distant Bloom

"Promotional artwork for Distant Bloom featuring a central character with pink skin, a large, friendly eye, and wearing a futuristic suit. They are interacting with a glowing, exotic flower, with elements of mystical energy swirling around. In the background, shadowy figures and bioluminescent plants add a sense of mystery and adventure. The game's logo floats prominently at the top." Published on: LadiesGamers.

From ruins to bloom, explore an alien planet in this serene management game. Harness plant power to restore the environment and build a thriving community with your crew

Yvonne went exploring and restoring in Distant Bloom

Distant Bloom has a lot of elements that attract me to a video game. Exploration, crafting, managing seeds and turning a barren landscape into a lush environment. Giving your crewmates little gifts ups their friendship levels.

All of this is set against an unusual scene of an alien planet and an alien crew. The Assistant and KEi.Ki are busy bees and it’s very satisfying to make the sick planet, plants and animals healthy again, just by sowing seeds. Collecting strange-looking seeds that produce interesting plants adds an extra incentive to Distant Bloom, as well as unravelling the mystery.

I really love my time in the game, and I love the little humorous touches in the conversations between the crew mates and quirky things like adding a trademark sign to the Exomulti. Oh and…. did I tell you you can pet the animals

Just Crow Things

Promotional image for Just Crow Things with a crow squawking. Published on LadiesGamers

You’re a little crow trying to prove herself to the world. Make new animal friends, poop on unsuspecting hoomans, and steal all the shiny trinkets!

Flying high in Just Crow Things, James concluded:

Just Crow Things is another fantastic effort from Unbound Creations. The controls are easy to pick up, making the game accessible to all ages, and the overall experience is a sheer joy to play. Whether you’re soaring through the sky or causing crow-style chaos, the game keeps you entertained from start to finish. It’s worth noting that the casual nature of the gameplay might not appeal to everyone, particularly those looking for a more challenging experience. However, this is a game designed to be fun, to make you laugh, and maybe even to share that experience with a loved one.

I’m incredibly happy with the time I spent playing Just Crow Things, and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a lighthearted, uplifting game.

LEGO: Builder’s Journey

LEGO Builder’s Journey LadiesGamers

LEGO Builder’s Journey is an atmospheric, geometric puzzle game that asks us to sometimes follow the instructions… and sometimes to break the rules.

LEGO Builder’s Journey built its way into Paula’s Best Games of 2021:

LEGO Builder’s Journey is a well thought out puzzle game, with a wonderful art style. It is an absolute delight to play. It is aimed at all fans of LEGO but it has a really grown up puzzle feel to it too. I hope we see more of this style of game from the LEGO brand in future. Also with the LEGO in the game and not all over the floor (no, I didn’t do that as a child) you can’t step on those Lego pieces and leave a brick imprint on your foot.

Minami Lane

Bubble letters spell out Minami Lane with a tanuki wearing a hat standing next to it. Published on: LadiesGamers

Minami Lane is a small, wholesome management game set on a Japanese-inspired street. Create and manage your own street, make sure everyone is happy, and watch the villagers live their lives! Enjoy 2 to 4 hours of playtime, cute tanukis and lots of cats!

Kalina reviewed Minami Lane on Steam:

Minami Lane is easily one of the cutest and most “coziest” games I’ve ever played. From the moment I started it, I was immediately reminded of another cozy favourite of mine – Capybara Spa, but to be honest, Minami Lane is easily the better game. It perfectly balances challenge and cuteness with enough quirkiness and cats to satisfy any cozy games fan. My only gripe is that someone should’ve warned me to get a bubble tea to have on hand while playing Minami Lane.

Dive into a narrative filled with charm, adventure, and adorable animals. A colorful hand-drawn world teeming with unique characters awaits!
Explore a lively oasis city filled with charming characters, forgotten ruins and ominous conspiracies in the second chapter of NAIRI, a narrative puzzle adventure about Nairi’s perilous quest to save her family.

Yvonne rose to the challenge of solving NAIRI: Rising Tide!

It’s been six years since the first game surprised us. Home Bear Studio has been hard at work making the sequel NAIRI: Rising Tide! another wonderful entry. So much attention to detail, giving instructions and hints in beautiful drawings. Lovely hand-drawn scenes and relatable characters. Wonderfully intricate puzzles and a storyline that could easily carry the story by itself.

I love this game so much that I decided to buy the first one on Switch at a very attractive price as well. If you love puzzles combined with a great story, go for NAIRI: Rising Tide!

I love this game. I love TOEM so much. It’s sweet, adorable, funny and full of fun and interesting NPCs to meet and take photos of. The world may be in black and white, but it’s lovingly detailed and wonderfully rendered. The music is wonderful and there are a lot of thoughtful details to make players love it even more. Venba

Cook delicious South-Indian food and experience the journey of an immigrant family in Venba!

Baked with love, led Kalina to give Venba ‘Two Thumbs Up’:

Venba is a great game and has an even more remarkable story. It gives us a brief glimpse at what an immigrant family goes through, the hardships and the joys. Venba also gives us an idea of how difficult it is to find the balance between adapting, fitting in, and still hanging on to your culture. It also touches on the universal idea that our children will not lead the life we do. This game has much humanity in the interactions between Venba and Paavalan, them and Kavin, the family, and the outside world. There are also simple moments of humor and love that feel so real that they could be someone’s memory.

While Venba is short, it is also long enough to do what it sets out to do: tell us a story and make us want to hug our parents.

Lovingly rendered storybook art style. Gather, collect, grow and craft bizarre ingredients. Research and concoct devious spells and sorceries.

Wytchwood featured in both Paula and Mina’s Best Games of 2021.

If crafting, exploring and lots of humour are what you look for in a game, then Wytchwood is the game for you. I’ve certainly enjoyed my playthrough of the game. The story is interesting, the characters are cutesy, dark, and grotesque with humour sprinkled in for good measure and fantastic graphics to top it all off. Wytchwood is definitely one of my games of the year and it receives our highest score.
