Kickstarter Beasts of Maravilla Island

Talking about Wholesome Games: Paula found another Kickstarter that might just be the kind of game that is right up our alley over here at LadiesGamers.com: Beasts of Maravilla Island.

Beasts of Maravilla Island is a 3D adventure game where you take on the role of a young wildlife photographer who traverses Maravilla Island’s magical ecosystems to discover extraordinary creatures, learn their behaviours, and, most importantly, photograph their majesty.

Players will have meaningful interactions with animals within their habitats, engage with them in personal ways and discover new species at their own pace. You see, in this game the focus isn’t to battle, grind and button mashing to slay your enemies. No, this game is about curiosity and a sense of discovery.

This is what the game is about:

  • Explore a 3D mysterious jungle island teeming with life
  • Interact with and befriend extraordinary creatures
  • Learn about what makes each magical creature unique and capture the perfect photograph of their enchanting behaviors
  • Use light, sound, and the surrounding nature to solve puzzles and discover secrets of the jungle

The Switch would be the Ideal Device

The Beasts of Maravilla Island team is composed of recent graduates and current students from The University of Southern California’s Games Program, Cal State Fullerton, and Art Center. The team met through the USC Advanced Games Project program and has since continued development together under Banana Bird Studios, LLC.

Where many Kickstarter initiatives first aim at Steam, the developers feel this game is perfect for the Nintendo Switch. Here’s the reasoning behind that:

” In addition to being a profound personal dream of the development team, we feel that the design style, magical interactions with animals, exploration, and most importantly, the photography mechanics belong on a console that makes this type of game shine brightest. Using features like the gyroscope, HD Rumble and Handheld mode will really sell the experience of holding a real camera, and exploring a vibrant, living world. Plus, believe the Switch will help us reach the audience this game was made for.”

I couldn’t agree more, which I why I decided to be a backer for this game. Want to add your pledge for this game too? Find the Kickstarter page here where you can also find more information. With some 10 days to go, the goal has already been met!
