Kickstarter Mia & Mio

Narrative game Mia & Mio is currently on Kickstarter, with 13 days left in their campaign. If the game is funded, which seems likely as it reached its initial funding goal in just 14 minutes, it will be heading to PC and Nintendo Switch in late 2027.

I think it looks like a gentle but emotionally heavy 2D adventure about two outcasts trying to stay afloat in a world that’s already judged them. Ole Sigurd Walla’s story follows Mia, the daughter of a witch who’s spent months fleeing persecution. When her mother’s strength finally runs out, she pours what little magic she has left into an old cat named Mio, asking him to protect the girl she’s leaving behind.

Once the mother is gone, the village turns cold, and you have to guide Mia and Mio as they slip away into the wilderness — island to island, mountain to mountain — looking for somewhere that might take them in.

You will meet odd, memorable characters along the way, and the choices you make nudge the story toward different endings. Talk to people and animals, solve small tasks, and dip into simple, story‑driven minigames. There’s no combat and no threat of death; there will be enough tension from the journey itself and the bond between a grieving girl and the cat who promised he wouldn’t leave her.
