Nintendo Indie World Showcase December 2021

Nintendo treated us all to an Indie World Showcase of future indie games that are being released on the Switch. A few surprises showed up as well, like some games releasing today. These are a few of the games that caught our eye from the showcase. Let’s get started.

Sea of Stars Holiday 2022

Sea of Stars tells the story of two Children of the Solstice who combine the powers of the sun and moon to perform Eclipse Magic. The only forces capable of fighting off the monstrous creations of an evil alchemist known as The Fleshmancer. Engaging turn-based combat, and a story-rich adventure.

Dozens of original characters and story arcs will take you on a captivating journey. Sometimes epic, sometimes silly, and other times emotional. Sea of Stars does its RPG duty of exploring classic themes of adventure and friendship, while also being chock-full of unexpected twists and events.

Aliisha: The Oblivion of the Twin Goddesses Spring 2022

Aliisha is a beautiful, fantasy adventure featuring twin girls Lisha and Aisha. On stumbling across an ancient temple, they must cooperate to overcome its many challenges and unravel the mystery of their destiny.

Explore Aliisha’s stunningly realised 3D world, either alone or with a friend, as you combine the unique abilities of the twin girls in order to advance.

Endling – Extinction is Forever Spring 2022

Experience what life would be like in a world ravaged by mankind through the eyes of the last fox on Earth in this eco-conscious adventure. Discover the destructive force of the human race. Day after day it corrupts, pollutes and exploits the most precious and valuable resources of the natural environment.

Explore Endling’s 3D side-scrolling world and defend your cubs. Three tiny and defenceless fur balls, feed them, watch them grow level after level. Notice their unique personalities and fears, and most importantly, help them survive. Use the cover of night to stealthily guide your litter towards a safer place. Spend the day resting in an improvised shelter and plan your next movement carefully since it could be the last for you and your pups.

Figment 2: Creed Valley is an action-adventure game set in the human mind. Nightmares are spreading chaos and enemies have overrun once-peaceful lands. Dusty, the Mind’s courage, and his ever-optimistic sidekick, Piper, must travel to Creed Valley, where The Mind’s ideals are formed to restore peace. As you make your way through puzzles, musical boss fights and unique environments you must face your fears head-on.

It’s a journey filled with musical showdowns and mind-bending puzzles await. Yvonne reviewed the first Figment game on the Switch way back in 2018 which you can find here. 

OlliOlli World February 2022

Challenge the world in Leagues or dare a friend to beat your best tricks.

Whilst his close friends and bandmates are all determined to help him move on, Rama is languishing in his existence, dwelling on the promises he made to Cinta before they could be fulfilled. But there’s one more thing keeping Rama from moving on, and that’s Cinta herself, whose voice now lives inside his head. As he explores the city with Cinta in tow, Rama’s choices and interactions will lead to a variety of possible story branches, and ultimately a number of different endings.

Chicory: A Colorful Tale Available Now

Chicory: A Colorful Tale is a top-down adventure game in a colouring book world where you can draw on anything. Use your painting powers to explore new places, solve puzzles, help your friends, and change the world!

Something terrible happened. Chicory, superstar artist and wielder of the Brush, is missing, and all the colour in the land vanished with her. It’s up to you, Chicory’s number one fan, to pick up the Brush and fill in for her. Explore the Picnic Province, and paint on anything. Solve puzzles and manipulate the environment with paint.

  1. I had never heard of Chicory until yesterday, but from what I have gathered since then, it is an absolute must play. I will get it soon. I am also looking forward to Endling, Loco Motive, Sea of Stars, and OlliOlli World. So I can say the Direct was pretty productive for me.

    1. Hi Matt, the indie direct was pretty good I thought. Chicory looks great doesn’t it, hopefully we will have a review for that one soon on the site.
