A new update for Pokémon Pokopia was announced today in the Nintendo Direct, bringing an underwater twist to the experience this August. Alongside this free content update, a paid Expansion Pass has also been announced, adding new areas and features in multiple parts.

Dive Into Underwater Exploration This August
The upcoming free update introduces the new Dive ability, allowing you to explore the ocean floor. With this feature, you can plant grass, build structures, and design your own underwater towns alongside Pokémon.
This is wonderful news, as it ads use to the large areas we couldn’t really do much with before. I’ve been thoroughly enjoying Pokopia for months now, and this update opens up a new way to shape my adventure, expanding building and exploration beyond land-based areas.

Expansion Pass Adds New Content Across Three Parts
The Pokémon Pokopia Expansion Pass will include three parts of additional content. It is already available to purchase in the Nintendo eShop, but this is more of a pre-order. You will get a Dynamic Ditto print recipe right now, that’s a recipe for a wallpaper and floor blocks. After that, you have to wait a bit.
Part 1 (as per the press release, part 1 will be available in August, but the eShop has a date of October 31), is titled Bubbly Basin. It introduces a new underwater area where you can continue your journey with Ditto and meet new Pokémon friends. This area also brings fresh furniture and outfits, adding more options for customisation.
The remaining parts of the Expansion Pass are scheduled for release later in 2026 and in 2027, continuing to expand the game over time.
