Bao Bao’s Cozy Laundromat is a cozy simulation game. This indie game has sweet little pixel graphics and very little to do in it. On purpose!

What is Bao Bao’s Cozy Laundromat Like?

Bao Bao’s Cozy Laundromat is an idle game. It’s not really designed to sit down and focus on; you are supposed to have it running in the background while you do other things. As long as Bao Bao’s Cozy Laundromat is open and running on your computer, the little panda inside will continue to wash clothing, earning passive money for you to spend on cute little decorations for the laundromat. And that’s it.

The Pros of Bao Bao’s Cozy Laundromat

Bao Bao’s Cozy Laundromat is so very, very cute. It’s got some of the most adorable little pixel art I have ever seen. The whole view outside of the laundromat has a Japanese-inspired vibe that fits the gentle, slow, chill vibes of the game. The music is relaxing and inspiring; it’s a beautiful lo-fi mix that keeps both you and Bao Bao focused on your tasks.

The items you can unlock in the store are incredibly adorable. Every single little item looks beautifully crafted and has a homey, cozy feel to it. In fact, the whole store has quite the cozy vibe that makes you want to spend the next forever hanging out, doing laundry with your new panda pal.

The volume menu in Bao Bao's Cozy Laundromat has lots of options.
There are lots of sound options to ensure that you can make the music, rain sounds, etc., the perfect mix for relaxing.

From now on, whenever I need to focus on work, I’ll have Bao Bao’s Cozy Laundromat running in the background. It’s nice to have a little buddy who is also working his little heart out to keep you company.

The Cons of Bao Bao’s Cozy Laundromat

For the most part, I didn’t have any issues with Bao Bao’s Cozy Laundromat; it was cute and ran well. It was a little RAM-intensive for a game that is supposed to be running in the background, which is something you will want to consider when looking to purchase it.

I think my biggest pet peeve with Bao Bao’s Cozy Laundromat is that you can’t pick up furniture once it has been placed. You have to sell it, then rebuy it to move it instead, but you don’t get all your money back. Also, you have to buy the item before it several times to unlock the items after it, so you have to buy items even if you don’t like the look of them. I find this to be frustrating; I feel like it would be easy to put some kind of move button in to make this easier. Update: The developer added a move button on March 3rd! It’s like they knew what I was thinking!

The plants are so cute.

In order to unlock new items, you have to buy two of the previous items, which is fine. I don’t mind that. However, I do wish you started with a little bit of money and some more options unlocked; you don’t have any decorations other than a single plant to begin with.

You can get a cat, but it will take you a long time to save up the 2000 coins you need (and you cannot pet the cat!). I think it would be nice if there were a little more available at the beginning of the game. It would also be wonderful if I could change the flooring and maybe put some decorations on the windows. I would also love to unlock outfits for Bao Bao and additional hats for my pet cat (whom I named Meow Meow).

Gotta keep expanding!

As far as bugs go, I encountered only one. Sometimes, when I closed the program through the in-game menu, it would remain running on my computer until I closed it through Steam’s menu instead. It was a little thing, and it didn’t bother me too much, but it was kind of annoying.

I really hope that Bao Bao’s Cozy Laundromat gets some updates with more items; I think a few more options, colors, pets, outfits, and things like that would really elevate the experience.

Conclusion

Overall, Bao Bao’s Cozy Laundromat is one of the best idle background games I’ve played in a long time. I adore the artwork, and the music is so good and relaxing. I love my little laundromat so much, and I can’t wait to keep it going.

Final Verdict: I Like it a Lot
I like it a lot
