Why do cats love knocking things off shelves? What drives them to do that? When you play Cat Chaos, you play as a cat, and that’s exactly what you do – over and over. And to be honest, it’s a lot of fun! Maybe that’s why they do it!
The Backstory of Cat Chaos
There’s very little backstory in Cat Chaos, but that’s ok. It’s self-explanatory, really. In the demo, you are a cat in a house and you cause chaos by knocking things off shelves and other surfaces! That’s about it! There are a total of 5 different environments in the full game, including the house, which is the demo. I could select my cat variety from 2 options in the demo, and in the full game, there will be 5 total options. The game is 3D and is open-world within each level. You are free to explore wherever you want and cause as much chaos as you want!
The Gameplay of Cat Chaos
I was given minimal instructions, but it was pretty easy to play. When I started the game, I was in the house, and in the top-right corner of the screen, it said I had knocked over 0 of 230 objects. What?? That’s a lot of objects. But turns out it’s really not. There are many things I can do to cause chaos in the game Cat Chaos!
When I began the game, I was able to meow, swat at items with either paw and jump. I could also spin around, which causes things nearby to go flying. As I caused chaos in the house, I randomly bumped into spots of light. These are stars which I can exchange to upgrade my choice of abilities. Much of the game is not explicitly explained, but it’s pretty easy to figure out. There are no timers in this game, no day/night cycles, no energy levels – just straight up fun and chaos.
After a while, I discovered an additional screen with specific objectives for me. That made it a lot more fun in my mind. I love getting check marks! Especially green ones. Another great feature in the UI is an “I’m stuck” button on the pause menu. There is one area of the game that I’ve yet to figure out, and I get stuck there a lot, so I really appreciate that button! Getting unstuck just transports me back to the main room in the level; I don’t lose any progress.
In addition to finding a large number of items in each area and the specific list of items to find, there is another fun challenge. There are toy friends scattered around, which I discovered as I knocked things to the ground. There’s a screen to keep track of which toys I have found.
There is a cat bed in the Cat Chaos demo; I assume there is one in each level. When I went to sleep, I ended the level I was currently playing and lost my progress. I was also given a summary of how I had done on that level so I could play it again and try to improve my score. And my owner came to see me, too. If I’d done a lot of damage, I think he was pretty annoyed!
The look and feel of the game environment
When I began the house level of Cat Chaos, it was a really lovely place! It was well decorated and very attractive.

The soundtrack is peppy and upbeat, and there are sound effects of things falling and breaking. The fragile items like vases and plates make a particularly satisfying shattering sound! It was nicely immersive. There are even balls in the house that I can bat and chase. It’s fun being a cat!
Final Thoughts
This is a great game with no real story to it, except that you are a cat causing chaos!! It’s a lot of fun to destroy things when it’s just a game.
I had some visual issues where the cat didn’t really stand on a shelf but was kind of in the air. I spoke with the dev about this, and they are actively trying to fix them. They were very open to suggestions and comments, which I appreciate. I think that shows how much they care about the game and making sure the players have the best possible experience with it. They are also tweaking the UI to better explain all the actions the cat uses. Wonderful!! I’m all for extra instructions!
Cat Chaos was developed by Chaosverse and is scheduled to be released in early 2026. I had a lot of fun with the demo, and I expect the final game to be even more polished. It should be a light and happy game. Cat Chaos is an indie game created by a cat-loving solo developer in Taiwan. The game was created as a product of their love for their own cat, and its mischief-causing behaviour!! That adds extra heart to the game in my mind, and I wish them the best with it.
