Doodle Harmony Idle Merge is a relaxing idle merging game where you generate doodles in real time, upgrade them, and earn money. Previously, at LadiesGamers, we have reviewed Doodle Harmony and Doodle Harmony Ghosts from the same developers.
The Gameplay of Doodle Harmony Idle Merge
At its heart, Doodle Harmony Idle Merge is a clicker – you merge two doodles of the same level and unlock the next level doodle. Once you do that, you can also buy that doodle in the shop. As you progress in the game, you unlock more spots for generating doodles.
While in the beginning, the best way to earn coins is to merge doodles manually, as the game progresses, we unlock upgrades, including an automatic merger, which does the merging for us. Earning coins allows us to buy skills and upgrade them, such as speeding up doodle generation, increasing the amount of coins generated, earning random money bonuses, increasing the level of the generated doodles, and so on. We can also upgrade the offline money production – the coins we earn without actively playing.
Doodle Harmony Idle Merge has an automatic saving system – it saves your progress automatically. Every time you start the game, you are greeted with the coins you’ve earned while not playing. One thing that doesn’t carry over between game sessions is the upgraded skills- each time you start the game, you need to upgrade them from the ground up.
The game offers the option to reset the game progress, but the next time you start from the beginning, you have an excellent permanent money multiplier – you earn money much quicker than before.
While playing, we also have in-game achievements, which, once unlocked, come with money bonuses.
In terms of art style – the doodles are black and quirky. If you have doodles of different levels all over the board, it’s easy to get confused since some designs are very similar. Thankfully, the developer has added the numbered level on the side of each doodle, and at later stages, it is what you are looking for when merging manually.
On the bottom of the screen, we have a circle. By clicking on it, we speed up the doodle generation. If we want to clear a spot, we can drag and drop an unwanted doodle on top of the circle, and it will be deleted.
Some Other Things
Doodle Harmony Idle Merge has Steam achievements but no trading cards yet. It also has basic audio and video options and dark and light modes. The soundtrack is nothing special but pleasant enough. You can change tracks in-game.
Conclusion
Doodle Harmony Idle Merge was a pleasant surprise for me – usually, I wouldn’t say I like idler clicker games and would have lost interest quite quickly. This game was engaging enough to make me stick until I unlocked all 100 doodle levels, and I imagine I might just go back to it at some point for some relaxing and still fast-paced fun.
Final Verdict: I Like it.
