The Cutest of Hidden Object Puzzles

Being honest, after playing Meow Moments: Celebrating Frost & Flora for the first time, I fell in love with cozy puzzles, and since then, I’ve been on the lookout for another calm hidden object game with cute animals as the main characters. Find My Frogs: Branches was everything I expected for my next cozy hidden object game!

Find My Frogs: Branches is the second project of Eye Studio, the Polish studio founded by Game Artist Dorota Halicka. In this game, you can find more than 425 frogs and toads, and around 230 more hidden secrets! So, there’s plenty to do in this beautiful hand-drawn world of Moss Glade—a tiny village built on an ancient tree and home to a cute and playful community of frogs and toads.

Just look at them; they’re having the time of their lives!

A Cozy Time With Cute Frogs? Count Me In

Find My Frogs: Branches has a quite simple storyline. Uncle Froger has lost his hat, and now it’s time to help him find it as we discover all the secrets in this charming tree village.

As this is a cozy hidden object game, there is no timer at all (yay!), and it doesn’t have an actual tutorial; rather, there are illustrations that will guide you in locating Uncle Froger’s hat. In order to access all the areas of the ancient tree, you need to find every frog plus 3 hidden keys scattered around the village.

For starters, besides frogs and toads, there are different beings to look for as well. Some include caterpillars, beetles, mice, owls, goblins, seed plants, and even some cute dumplings that frogs go crazy for.

Grab Your Favorite Drink, We Are Finding Frogs!

At first, I thought it was going to be difficult to find the characters in Find My Frogs: Branches, as the map contains lots of colored figures and elements. But in reality, it was so easy to find them all! I love it when games make it challenging for you, but without it feeling overwhelming or frustrating.

The controls are super easy: right-click to move around, left-click to select and find the hidden frogs. If you’re new to hidden object games, click even the most ordinary items. Plus, there are quite a few tools to make the search even easier. In the upper right corner, there is a magnifying glass that clearly leads you to a missing object. Though, the cooldown for it is really long if you want to use it for multiple occasions. My recommendation is to use it only when you have exhausted all your options and can’t find anything else.

There are some characters that are hidden in the most fun ways possible, and in very clever spots. I had to revisit some areas a couple of times, only to realize that there were some beetles and caterpillars I overlooked all around the place.

To be a frog and take a relaxing bath on a leaf!

Another feature that I absolutely loved about Find My Frogs: Branches is that you can choose to set the game to day or night, or let time flow to make the game feel more alive. It’s also something helpful if you’re playing late at night (like me) and you want the game to match your mood. You can change this on the settings icon in the upper left corner. Here, you can also find the settings for music and sound effects volume, and even the option to play in grayscale.

In the day, the map is full of color, but at night it gives it a different, cozy vibe.

On the menu tab, you can find the map containing every section of the tree village. This is so helpful for fast traveling to a location if you missed some frogs. As a tip, the areas that aren’t fully colored reveal that there are still more quest items and secrets to be found! Some locations are locked until you find every remaining frog, as well as the key that unlocks the door to the following areas of the tree.

Slow Down and Enjoy the Moment

Find My Frogs: Branches is a collaboration between two artists, a visual artist (Dorota Halicka) and a musician (Aleksander Zabłocki), emphasizing the artistic side of the game, both visually and musically. And it just shows!

There were times when I stopped searching for frogs and simply stared at the lovely art, taking it all in. Its calming atmosphere and ambient sounds make you feel part of the comforting world of Moss Glade! For example, depending on the area of the tree you’re located in, you can listen to the sounds of frogs sleeping, sewing machines, tea being poured into a cup, and many more.

I have such a soft spot for games with cute animals peacefully coexisting.

What impressed me the most is how soothing this game is. On my first playthrough, I completed the game in a little bit more than an hour and a half, but I’m definitely replaying it as I want to take longer to appreciate its beautiful art.

Conclusion

I truly wish for a Nintendo Switch port for Find My Frogs: Branches, since I want to take it with me everywhere I go! It’s so cozy, with such a calming world that I could get lost in for hours.

Honestly, this is the type of game I love getting lost in—puzzles focused on relaxing and unwinding from the day, with no timer. It’s simply you and this charming world.

If you’re looking for a peaceful hidden object game for a moment of respite, be sure to check out Find My Frogs: Branches on the Steam Store.

Final Verdict: Two Thumbs Up
