Introduction

Everybody knows cats are actually made of liquid, and this allows them to fit within any space imaginable! In Fit My Cat, it’s your task to make these cats all fit within the same box. The cats come in all shapes, sizes and floofiness. Fit My Cat was developed and published by RedDeer Games.

The Gameplay of Fit My Cat

The game contains 90 puzzles that require the player to place each on a particular level within a cardboard box. The levels are set on a variable grid that is determined by the level loaded with the appropriate cats for the puzzle. Every cat must be within the box to complete the level. This does not mean that every tile needs to be filled with a cat, but most of the time, the whole box area will indeed be filled.

Within each level, you can rotate the cat to fit it within the box better. Some cats fill four tiles in a square; others could fill three in a line, and others just one tile. The left stick is used to select the cat you wish to move. I found this incredibly frustrating as it was hard to sometimes see the visual selection or which cat it would pick.

There is no penalty for incorrectly solving the puzzle or any timed aspect, such as a countdown clock or turn counter. This means that there is no aspect of the game that causes tension to make the puzzles more intense. Whilst the levels get harder as you progress, I found that the levels were still incredibly easy, and the lack of timed aspect meant I couldn’t create a more challenging experience.

Presentation

Fit My Cat is presented a simple 2D artstyle. The background featured is within a hand-drawn style with cat items such as fish plushies, toy mice and food. Each cat has there own 2D sprite with big eyes and plenty of character. Each cardboard box can be variable sizes with additional hazards such as yarn balls or cat beds in the same art style. These hazards are placed on the level before the level starts, making players have to place the cats around the objects.

Conclusion

Fit My Cat is a visually charming game which would be perfect for a cat lover. The controls to select a cat felt unresponsive and became frustrating, which hindered my interest in the game. Fit My Cat isn’t a particularly difficult game, but it is probably more suited for younger gamers with an interest in visual puzzles and cats. A cheaper title within the Switch’s game library, it could pass a couple of hours of an afternoon. If you want a less intense puzzle game, you can pick up Fit My Cat here.

Final Verdict: I’m Not Sure. I'm not sure
