Gaming News Week 43

Come on in, get yourself a nice cup of coffee or tea and pull up a chair.

My week has been a good one, with playing Spirit of the Island to make a review. It’s dark very early in the evening, so there’s no need to work in the garden or such, and more time for my gameplay. How has your week been? With everything going on in the world, it’s a good thing we can retreat in our little cocoon….so here’s this week’s news.

Tavern Talk Kickstarter is Up

Remember Coffee Talk? We have reviewed both games on LadiesGamers.com, and the second game, Coffee Talk Episode 2: Hibiscus & Butterflyeven got Two Thumbs Up. Caroline, who reviewed it, wrote:

I highly recommend Coffee Talk Episode 2: Hibiscus & Butterfly to anyone who loves visual novels and is looking to soothe their anxiety whilst playing a game. This game helped me to relax at night before going to sleep because it just soothed me.

Developers Gentle Troll are inspired by Coffee Talk and Dungeons & Dragons to bring you Tavern Talk to Kickstarter. You’re the owner of the Wayfarer’s Inn, ready to brew up magical drinks for your patrons, from potions of seething fury to prancing swords that will alter their fates forever. Gather rumours from the tavern-goes and turn them into heroic quests for your patrons. In your downtime, piece together fragments to uncover the secrets of an ancient evil threatening the land! Mina already played the demo and put her thoughts about it here.

The Kickstarter for the game is up and was funded within 6 hours after launch. Also, the stretch goal for a port to Switch is already reached too. So, you can expect the game on Steam, and Switch!

Free Halloween Update for Lego Bricktales

Remember LEGO Bricktales? Paula reviewed the game and gave it our highest Two Thumbs Up rating. In the game, you journey across five beautiful LEGO brick-themed biomes, taking you to the green foliage of the deepest jungles, the scorching sand of sun-drenched deserts, the hustle and bustle of a city corner, the epic sight of a towering medieval castle and the paradise of tropical Caribbean islands.

With an intuitive brick-by-brick building mechanic, you need to solve the many fun puzzles you encounter on this adventure and bring your creative solutions to life.

It’s time for a free Halloween update that follows on from the free Summer and Easter updates and features a new spooky diorama for you to play in, five new construction puzzles, including a crypt that needs restoring to help some bats, three new wardrobe items and a new music tracks.

Cute Can Be Feisty

Mother and daughter team Atas Fun are working on a game that’s not only cute looking but is feisty as well. In Feisty Fauna, we have a mom as protagonist for a change and a chicken mom no less! This is a story about a chicken mom rescuing her kidnapped chicks. There’s nothing that can withstand the wrath of an anxious mother!

The game has split-screen co-op for up to 4 players and Twitch integration so Twitch viewers can spawn minions to aid streamers. There’s a Halloween demo up right now on Steam if you want to give it a go! You can find it here.

Boxes: Lost Fragments is Coming

You know how we love a good puzzle game, and Boxes: Lost Fragments sure sounds interesting and the classic atmospheric environment looks great.

As a legendary thief, your latest mission leads you to a grand and lavish mansion. Within its luxurious confines, a collection of puzzle boxes awaits, each meticulously crafted for an unknown purpose. What initially seemed like a quick in-and-out turns into your own harrowing struggle for freedom and answers.

The game is coming to Steam this November 2023, you can wishlist it here.

Station to Station X Choo Choo Charles

We know the train-themed building puzzle game Station to Station and featured it on our site. There’s another train game out there, though, Choo Choo Charles, more of a horror game. With Halloween here, there’s now a special update available from today until November 2. All players will have the option to experience the ultimate stack bonus by activating the “Choo-Choo Charles” mode from the game’s menu, which will replace all in-game freight trains with a ghoulish Choo-Choo Charles model.

Cities: Skylines II Update

Although Paula’s PC ran Cities: Skylines II very well, Steam was divided on release day by people who loved it and people who couldn’t get the game to run properly. The first of several patches to improve performance has now been released, of which you can see the specifics here.

A Pixel Perfect Story

As you know, we love a good cup of coffee and a great story. Which is why Pixel Cafe has caught our interest. The title will be available on November 30th, 2023, on Steam, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation and Xbox.

Step into the digital world of Pixel Cafe. Part arcade time manager, part visual novel, Pixel Cafe is wholly fun. Experience the world as Pixel, a small-town barista with big dreams. As Pixel tends to her responsibilities at the local diner–serving customers and chatting with her different bosses–she begins to realize how memories of her family have influenced her small life in Karstok. Alongside Pixel, explore your city, work at new diners, and reflect on your history in Pixel Cafe!

That’s it for this week; thanks for reading!
