Get Ready For A Cozy Afternoon With Garden Ink
Garden Ink reminded me so much of those cozy afternoons I have spent playing Animal Crossing or Minecraft. Garden Ink beautifully blends the sense of exploration in a charming and natural world created by you, while hanging out with the creatures that live in your garden.
Both games mentioned above are among my favorites to play on a rainy day with my blanket around me; however, there are times when I feel pressured to build something or to earn more bells so that I can expand my home and decorate it just how I like it. In Garden Ink, you shape your own world, or, as I like to refer to it, you tend to your own garden with little to no grind at all.
Grow At Your Own Pace in Garden Ink
With Garden Ink being mainly a sandbox and exploration game, it doesn’t have a strict storyline to follow. The game starts with 2 little leaf creatures that grow from the floor of an empty world, ready to be colored. From there, with the help of lovely creatures, you start growing trees, plants, and even rocks that serve as decorations for your world.
You nurture and expand your garden by merging decorations and creating up to 150 combinations, giving you such a wide range of freedom to create your world as you see fit.
The gameplay of Garden Ink is so simple, yet so fun. There is no written tutorial; rather, the game illustrates to you with images and pictograms the tasks you need to complete.
The controls are so intuitive and easy to remember. You can either use the arrow keys or the pointer to move through the map and click on each creature or decoration you wish to move. The camera movement is so smooth; it is very easy to travel around without elements being hidden behind bigger decorations.
The more you grow your garden, the more options you’ll discover for redesigning it. You can unlock more colors and natural resources as you get more stars (points) from playing.
Every time you create a new combination and show it to the creatures with a star on their side, you’ll get more points and gain new resources for more decorations. These stars are stored on the central tree of your garden. As you nurture your world, the tree will get bigger and even unlock new creatures and minigames.
Little rocks, small trees, and flowers will appear every now and then underneath the sign with their respective symbol. If you wish just to unwind from the day, no worries; you can just log in and relax while those little friends replenish your raw materials.
Every time I’m in my garden, I feel like these creatures are some kind of forest spirits providing resources to make my garden flourish.
Cozy, Relaxing, Fun. Garden Ink Has It All
Cozy games need some action from time to time, so they don’t end up feeling boring or pointless. Garden Ink does this beautifully with its great variety of minigames. Among them are memory puzzles, rhythm games, sequencing games, etc.
Once you complete each minigame, you’ll earn points to customize your garden, unlock more minigames, and transform your resources, such as trees into corals, rocks into minerals, or give you new combinations to discover. These minigames are also saved in your garden, so you can keep playing them whenever you want.
From time to time, you’ll hear a flapping sound. Follow it through your garden, and you’ll find creatures gifting you different decorations. But what happens if you don’t like those decorations? Worry not! There is a carnivorous plant that will break down each piece into its raw materials, so you can keep merging and discovering new creations.
Love Nature? Then Stay A While
Garden Ink is also a game you can run in the background to listen to its soothing soundtrack. The music is so calming, and with its natural sounds of flowing water, rain, and playful sounds that your little friends create, it makes you feel at peace.
With its hand-painted visuals and gentle music, Garden Ink feels like your personal 3D coloring book. It doesn’t pressure you to keep advancing or endlessly expanding; it makes you want to grow just so you can make your garden more whimsical and full of life.
While most of the time the game is intuitive, there were moments when I didn’t really know what to do next, so I just clicked on everything until something happened. If you’re as curious as I am, you’ll have no problem finding your way through Garden Ink. However, it could be quite confusing for some gamers who need clearer instructions to progress.
There are some creatures that give you hints for the creations you need to make next, but you ultimately decide how to play the game, and that’s the beauty of it.
Conclusions
This is one of the coziest games I’ve ever played! I had such a great time tending to my world in Garden Ink. If you are looking for a game to relax and slow down to enjoy the moment, this is definitely the game for you!
With its peaceful atmosphere and zero grind, Garden Ink is the perfect game to play when feeling overwhelmed or when you need to take a small break and turn off your brain for a moment.
