Remember Kickstarter Summer in Mara? I’m pretty sure you know how enthusiastic we are about this simulation game, following it from the very start as a Kickstarter project! The studio behind Summer in Mara, Chibig Studio, has just launched another Kickstarter project: Deiland: Pocket Planet Edition.
Chibig Brings Deiland to the Switch
If you’ve delved a bit farther into games from Chibig, like I have, you must already know Deiland. It was their first game, released on PS4, PC and I have it on my iPad as well. It is the story of Arco, one of the four princes that was sent to the minor planets. It was their mission to find the Crystal that was at the heart of each planet. When the Crystal is found, it would wake up the ancient powers of magic. Which in turn would extend to every place in the universe, giving rise to the origin or worlds. Or so the story is told. Arco is sent to Deiland; the Tiny.
You might wonder why, if there is already a game there, this Kickstarter is launched? Well, Chibig is planning to bring a reimagination of Deiland to the Switch. Pocket Planet Edition won’t just be a straight copy: it will Include all new looks, new music, new playability and exclusive DLC content. On top of all of this, Pocket Planet Edition includes a new seasons system.
Create Your Sandbox Planet
Deiland is a relaxing game, with a strong narrative and a cast of diverse characters for you to meet. The game draws inspiration from other great titles like Harvest Moon and Stardew Valley. As you can imagine already, it’s heavily inspired by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry’s novella “The Little Prince”.
On your own tiny sandbox planet you will farm, craft and fight monsters to take care of your planet and help visitors with their quest. This means, as you can customise your planet with trees, plants, crops, flowers and structures, each planet will be unique.
Deiland is essentially a small living world where your actions count! And if you are a fan of Summer in Mara, you will be pleased that there are familiar characters as well. For instance, there’s Brram the qüido chef from Qälis. He was a precocious chef as a kid, working with his uncle in his restaurant. Now, he has fullfiled his dream as a space chef. Brram travels with his restaurant-ship and he’ll visit Deiland looking for new ingredients and recipes. After all, Deiland takes place in the same universe, only 6 years after the Mara adventure.
But that’s not all: many new faces and cool characters are planned!
Goal Already Met
The Kickstarter has only launched two days ago and has already reached the goal: at the time of writing this, € 11.204 has been pledged by 601 backers to the goal of € 10.000. I was happy to jump in as well, who can resist such a cute looking game on our favourite handheld device?
