The Premise of Little Problems: A Cozy Detective Game
In Little Problems: A Cozy Detective Game, we play as Mary Grinsnow, a first-year university student, and as her, we have to solve a myriad of detective cases in the form of little problems, minor inconveniences, and everyday misunderstandings.

Gameplay
Little Problems is a detective game in the sense that we look for clues, piece them together, and draw conclusions. It’s a low-stakes game – all of our cases are about who ate the last cupcake, what happened to Mary’s homework, and so on. That is precisely what makes the game cozy – no stress, no drama, no saving the world.
That being said, it’s not an overly easy game. You have to pay attention and read the clues. At the beginning of the game, we can choose whether or not to have the clues highlighted on the screen. This essentially works as a difficulty setting. No matter what we choose, the process of reading them and piercing them as solutions is the same, and it requires paying attention.

The problems are arranged as a text with missing words we need to fill in. The words we collect with the clues. The game allows us to collect all the clues and proceed to solving, but we can go back to the clues at any moment. We can also take notes. Little problems also has a rechargeable hint system. Once we’ve filled in a text, the game shows us how many mistakes we’ve made, and the hint button indicates exactly where the mistake is.
Once we are done with a case, we can go to the next one. After several interconnected cases, we are given a new series of cases, once again interconnected with each other. We have 10 cases altogether.
Visually, Little Problems is a cute anime-inspired game, with almost cinematic cut scenes, showing more of Mary’s life, family, and friends. The soundtrack is pleasant, well-suited to the rest of the game.

Some Other Things
Little Problems: A Cozy Detective Game has basic audio and video settings. The game has Steam achievements, but no trading cards yet.
Conclusion
Little Problems: A Cozy Detective Game will no doubt satisfy fans of the cozy genre. It will probably please fans of The Roottrees are Dead, as well, because it uses similar gameplay mechanics. I’ve played and reviewed and loved both games, and for me, the comparison was unavoidable. Of course, the mood for each game is very different, and in terms of coziness, Little Problems is the clear winner. If you are in the mood for some light-hearted detective fun, Little Problems: A Cozy Detective Game might be the game for you.
