With the Super Mario Bros. 40th Anniversary, we were hoping for some good news on the Mario front, and we were not disappointed.

Nintendo and Illumination have continued their collaboration and will bring us The Super Mario Galaxy Movie in April 2026. Check out the official trailer from Illumination on YouTube.

Linked with the movie, Super Mario Galaxy and Super Mario Galaxy 2 will be available on 2nd October 2025 for the Nintendo Switch. Don’t worry if you already own Super Mario Galaxy as part of Super Mario 3D All Stars, as both Galaxy games will be available as separate digital downloads, as well as a bundle. Find out more about these classics.

Sticking with Mario, there will be a new addition to the Mario Tennis series in February 2026: Mario Tennis Fever for the Nintendo Switch 2 and a Super Mario Bros. Wonder – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition, which includes Meetup at Bellabel Park, a friends and family multiplayer playground of party games, releasing in Spring 2026.

If one of your favourite characters from Super Mario Bros. Wonder was the talking flower, then you’ll be able to buy a talking flower of your own next Spring!

More Than Just Mario

Yoshi is having another adventure in Yoshi and the Mysterious Book. An adorable-looking game where you go in search of mysterious creatures to fill the pages of Mr E, a talking book. Another game which is going to be released next Spring.

More info was released about Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream. You’ll be able to create Mii characters to live on your island and help them live their best lives, but you’ll need to wait until (yes, you’ve guessed it) next Spring!

However, if you want something new to play today and already own Donkey Kong Bananza (which I highly recommended when I reviewed it in July), then grab the paid DLC: DK Island and Emerald Rush. You’ll be able to explore DK Island, and if you’ve finished the main game, you’ll be able to get a job with the Void Company collecting emeralds. More smashing and bashing fun!

Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment has a release date of November 6th 2025. This Nintendo Switch 2 exclusive in the Hyrule Warriors series follows the events of the Imprisoning War mentioned in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. You’ll be able to play in local co-op on a split-screen or on a separate console via GameShare.

If Pokémon are your favourites, then as well as news about a paid DLC: Mega Dimension for Pokémon Legends: Z-A (launching October 16th), there is a cute new Pokémon game coming out next year called Pokémon Pokopia. In Pokémon Pokopia, your protagonist, Ditto, will be able to create an ideal world for Pokémon they find. You’ll be able to collect resources, craft furnishing, and build shelters, as well as grow crops. It’s Pokémon with a simulation twist, and it looks great.

Other Games

Dragon Quest VII Reimagined comes to both Switch and Switch 2 on February 2nd 2026. Gather your companions and discover the mysteries of the past. If one Dragon Quest game isn’t enough, how about another two in Dragon Quest I & II HD-2D Remake, being released on 30th October 2025.

You’ll be able to explore and clean more of Muckingham, and beyond in PowerWash Simulator 2. No specific date, just Fall 2025.

Overcooked! 2 is getting a Switch 2 version (Winter 2025), which will include CameraPlay, so you’ll be able to see the laughter (or panic) on your friends’ faces as you all rush around the kitchen.

Inspired by the Australian outback, Dinkum allows you to create your own paradise on a remote island through farming, mining, crafting, foraging and raising animals. However, watch out for the local wildlife! There’s a demo available in the eShop, so check it out.

Stardew Valley is also getting a Switch 2 edition (Fall 2025), which will include mouse controls and GameShare. I reviewed Stardew Valley and it remains one of my favourite games of all time, and being able to share it with family and friends will only increase its appeal!

Suika Game Planet gets a centralised twist on the traditional Suika game, with the fruit falling towards the centre. Releasing on both Switch and Switch 2 (with GameShare) this Winter.

Two Point Museum is coming to Switch on 28th October 2025. Paula gave the game our highest rating when she reviewed the Steam version back in March.
